Perhaps it would be prudent to point out that it's only their "souls" that have been saved. Converting to christianity won't save you from the hardships of earth for instance, nor will it save your life, no matter your age.

Jesus did nothing for those kids, but at least they can comfort themselves that they will have a happy afterlife. The problem is, that the same conviction goes for the ones who killed them. Everybody involved were convnced their actions would provide them with a happy afterlife.
To me, that just sounds stupid and points to the likelyhood that they were BOTH wrong. None of them will even have an afterlife. They will just get reborn and get to continue from where they first allowed themselves to die a meaningless death, in order to make a better choice next time.
Personally, I don't think more religion is the answer to the worlds problems. I think less religion and more science is to be preferred for mankind to have a future.

From a Nirvana point of view, existence is Paradise, since even a disembodied soul needs some stimulation every now and then, and in Nirvana, there is None. Being in Nirvana would be much like being a Soul-Zombie; Conscious, but very useless. ;)

the point missed by just about everyone concerning Christianity is if you practice it as the left hand path or thorny path and follow the precepts Jesus taught on how to try your best not to re-incur more neg karma by your actions towards others your suffering -all existence is suffering remember?-and karmic debt can be relinquished through this ancient mystery system of the cross-and actually move closer to earning ascension which is transmuting the atoms in your physical body to quantum leap to the 5th dimension-or beyond-I think to the 7th then there is another existence beyond atoms
