This is a bright light about what is happening on planet Earth, not some conspiracy, this is the reality of what is happening and it's a great example there are good people out there, changing things for the better.
100 People starts with a simple idea, but we have very ambitious aims. We want to meet the big thinkers of our time and inspire students to grow up and follow in their footsteps. That's why we teamed up with Techonomy, which is an innovative new conference and philosophy that stems from the idea that we as humans invent things to solve problems. In August 2010, two hundred of the world's most forward-thinking techonomists convened in a quest of new ways to propel our economy, enhance our lives and preserve our planet.
We thought that students needed to be a part of this conversation, so we partnered with Intel and Techonomy to engage students in the rich dialogue about global issues. We selected 10 of the brightest young thinkers from among the finalists at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair to examine 10 global issues through the 100 People lens: water, food, transportation, health, economy, education, energy, shelter, war and waste.
The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, a program of Society for Science & the Public, is the world's largest pre-college science fair competition. Each year, more than 6 million young scientists from around the world vied to attend and 1,500 were selected as finalists to share ideas, showcase cutting edge ideas and compete for over USD 4 million in awards and scholarships.
