Wow, there must have been very much fog in the air that such a directed beam of light would be visible like that at daytime. And such a nicely constant one...
I hate it to be the grinch, but I rather guess this is a camera failure. I sometimes have such effects on my mobil phone's camera, depending of the position of the sun. So, the picture is not a fake directly, since I guess nobody manipulated it by purpose, but it is not what the photographers want to see. Anyway, I guess this is an interesting place to visit :-)
