A lucid dream with a big surprise.

As grade-school kids my sister and I often received a ride from a nearby friend who's father drove us to school in his V.W. Beetle. I didn't like her father, he always seemed grouchy and kind of scared me. So for years afterword I often dreamed of this uncomfortable situation. One night while I was having this same dream once again, I suddenly became aware that I was dreaming. There I was, I the back seat of the V.W. with the scary grouch driving us, when my awareness stepped back and I became the "observer" of the dream. I wasn't having thoughts per say, but I was aware that I was watching a dream that I had had many times before. I decided to experiment with this now lucid dream and make a change to see what happens. Because I didn't like this guy, I thought I would try smacking him "up side his head" and let him know how I felt. So I did, and what happened next shocked the hell out of me. He quickly turned around looking very angry and threw a solid left jab that hit me right in my face. This totally unexpected reaction so surprised me that I couldn't have jumped higher if he had Tazered me with 50,000 volts. What a way to snap out of a dream.

Talk about instant karma! Here I thought I was in total control of the dream. I guess I was wrong.

  • Maybe at some point in the dream I slipped back into the dream experiencer again. I don't know.

  • Ever read Carlos Casteneda's books about what he learned from the shaman Don Juan?  They actually developed a will power method for controlling dreams and consciousness and willing themselves through dream worlds.  Eventually they discovered they could travel physically to other 'layers of the onion' or other dimensions/worlds.

    • I sure have. I think I've read ALL of his books about 40 years ago. In fact it was his books that got me started on my spiritual journey.
