If one wants to be Present, one needs to be aware of what they're feeling in every Moment. In our "normal" life we're usually distracted away from what we're feeling and we use meditation to reconnect. The goal here in to bridge the gap between "normal" life and meditation. For the majority of the day, most people reside in a mental world, they don't see beyond the repetitive thoughts in their minds. When they meditate, it's an escape. They completely lose focus of what's occurring in the physical and in fact, that's often the goal of the meditation. Many meditative practices encourage this, but this kinda misses the whole point of meditation.The greatest gift you can get from meditation, is to be able to achieve that state in any Moment you want. Effortlessly finding a place of peace and calm whenever you need it. This is why you keep your focus on your breath and what you feel. Being conscious of how the breath makes you feel evolves into being conscious of how each experience makes you feel. Then you're able to move through any emotions you may feel without them having any power over you. Joy.
