Meat doesn't just contain protein. It contains a variety of important nutritional content in one package. This includes all of the essential amino acids, iron, zinc, vitamin B12, selenium, phosphorus, niacin, vitamin B6, choline and riboflavin. Thus people who abstain from eating all meat, need to plan their diet more carefully to include vegetarian sources of all the necessary amino acids and other essential nutritional content.
For this reason those who have eaten meat their entire life will find the transition almost impossible if they do not plan a diet which contains the necessary nutrients that they currently get from meat. I agree with what you are saying Kalki. The reason I wrote this was because I understand how difficult it is for those who have spent their whole life eating meat to become vegetarian. Many people have good intentions of become vegetarian, and do try, but their body gets cravings for meat and they don't feel nourished and they end up going back to eating it. This is mainly because they haven't spent the time and effort to plan a diet that supplies them with what their body is used to extracting from meat. Being judgemental and demanding that everyone stops eating meat immediately is not going to work and it will alienate the majority of humanity. Most people eat meat because it is readily available, easy, cheap and a quick means to nourishing their body. To state it bluntly it makes them feel full and temporarily satisfied. Yes there is eventually a very terrible price to pay for this convenience, but a large portion of the human race has collectively agreed to use their position as the dominant species to absolutely force animals to serve their purpose as food. They see nothing wrong with this, and use all their power to enforce their dominance. Not only this but they use all their domination and power to destroy the oceans and environment of the planet. Yes collectively the human race has created terrible KARMA due to this situation and would have been obliterated from the face of this earth if it wasn't for the COMPASSION that the divine world has for humanity. We are all being given time to learn the lessons and change our ways in the most compassionate way possible, since it is an incredibly complex situation here. This is a planet of learning, and pretty much everything is allowed as long as you learn the lesson that your actions have consequences and come back to you. i.e. the lesson of karma. So mother earth has allowed humans to do so much to her and her creatures, but she is not at threat from humans and does not need to strike back. This planet has been here for billions of years before humanity and will be here billions of years after all humanity has long since crumbled into the dust of ancient history. Mother Earth does not need to be "saved" by humans, it is insanely conceited of human beings to even think such a thing. It is humanity which is at threat from going extinct if it continues it's activities. None of us has the right to point a finger at anyone else. As human beings we are all collectively responsible for our crimes against this planet and the animals. To put this bluntly, vegetarians and vegans share the same collective karma as meat eaters for the massive suffering caused to these creatures. Thus it is only through compassion for all animals as well as humans and love for all, without judgement that we have a chance of preventing the human race from being ejected from this planet. The human race must learn to become innocent, loving and kind to all creatures to prevent the severe catastrophies and inevitable extinction of their race.
