Amazing

Dolphins and whales filmed playing happily together.

If whales come across dolphins, you might think the only interaction between them would be the dolphins fleeing from the whales as the whales try to catch them for dinner. However, a drone recently captured two humpback whales seemingly playing happily with a dolphin along with her youngster.

The drone footage is the first time footage has been captured of dolphins and whales interacting with each other playing in the ocean. The two species do enjoy a relationship that is friendly with scientists realizing they do enjoy each other’s company.

Dolphins Are Not Afraid Of Whales
It seems that the humpback whales were not the only whales to play with dolphins as off the coast of Western Australia a whale was seen playing with a pod of dolphins. Scientists said as the dolphins were seen to be rolling their stomachs towards the huge whale it showed they were not afraid of the whale. Their behavior suggested play as opposed to being aggressive or afraid.

The whale in question was a southern right whale. They swim for many thousands of miles to reach the warm waters of Australia from the chill of the Antarctic. The whale captured on film playing among the pod of dolphins had taken a break while traveling to have some fun. While playful interactions between whales and dolphins are rarely seen it does show that the two species can get on together, they do in fact enjoy playing together.

  • Thank you, love this!  I've seen the Southern Right Whales with dolphins from Albany, on the south coast of Western Australia. The second video looks as though it could be there, or somewhere along the southern coast, from the look of the granite landscape around the sea at the end of the vid.

They're such beautiful, loving beings! :)

    • Yes Joanna ..from YouTube about the second video I got the following information :
