Well Thoth did say he would return one day from The Halls of Amenti and hold to account all those he entrusted to protect the Pyramids (The knowledge) within, so if you ask me, I'd say the removal of "artifacts" in all it's varied forms from the pyramids constitutes the removal of knowledge! Thus the apparent "moving" of this statue could symbolise the beginning of his return. I think the statue was around in his day and was probably sensitive to his energy at that time too.

  thoth is one of a very few who have walked up to the ark of the covenent in the halls of amenthi, he says when he goes down there from time to time to test his pureness of his self hood that when he goes down their the darkness cloaks the halls of record and when he approaches the ark of the covenent a wall of pure blackness removes itself in his presence, it is protected with evil because only those with a heart of pure love can get access to the ark of the covenent.
