  Interesting you mentioned this suicide thing you had. I have had problems with it myself.
  But not in the same way as you, i do not think i comited it in anothere life.
  I do sense a family karma kind of thing, that goes on from generation to generation.
  I also have a strange feeling my grandfathers are still around and their negative energy is interfering with me. Wich would explain my problem with suicide thoughts. You know like a family thing, some families are in coffee busines for generations others in killing themselves...lol.

  I have been surounded by alcoholics all my life. My father was one, my grandmother on his side was one. My grandmother on my mothers side was adicted to pils.My sisters husband is a alcoholic, my brother in-law is a alcoholic, my 2 uncles are alcoholics. And yes they all seem to lack something. My dad went to war for 3 years came back a diff person, my brother in-law even if he has been married for over 25 years still cries about his first love that went wrong,and this gives him the right to drink...i worked with him for a while and i can say that it is amazing how these people live. everything is planed around alcohol. we would leave for work at 7 in the morning and he would already have been drinking sinds 5 in the morning. We did cleaning and repairs to swimming pools, first stop...the gass station to get a 12 pack. then he would have a beer every 20 minutes untill we would stop working. That would be around 2 in the afternoon, by then he was wasted and went to bed...i managed to work with him for 4 month and i had to leave. This is no life, and it is dangerous for others to. But as long as they do not want to stop there is no way they will stop. My wife and me would talk for hours with him...next day he would not remember so what is the point. It reminds me of a friend that once went to a docter to stop smoking with a laser treatment, right out of the ofice after the laser treatment she put on a cigarette, and said to me..." You see this shit does not work"...
  
  I see this world as a verry dark place to, still i manage to stay clear of these things even if i could imagine they would bring some relief in dificult situations that drag on and on.
  Something deep inside me shines and gives me strenght.
  
  Why do others not have this luck? Who knows...
  Is it their education? Are we born this way? Is it carma?
  
  Why did both my grandfathers comit suicide? Who knows?
  Why did my father smoke and drink himself to death?
  Why did my one grandmother drink herself to death to while the other one killed herself taking pils?
  Why did my mother become a fanatical Jehova's Witness?
  Why does my sister always get married with drunks that hit her?
  And why am i here? Trying to live a life of traps and darkness, everyday living with selfish people who have no clue it is not their nature but their Ego that destroys everything that is beautifull in this world...or maybe not.
  Is this a world of beauty? When we al know death is present 24/7 in everything? This world seems like a waste factory, then some say this is the beauty of nature nothing gets wasted everything changes into something else to be eaten by something different from animals to microscopic parasites.
  Then there is the other worlds where death is no more...so why are we here again?...
  No wonder so manny hate their lves...and do not even know why..the crap is so big it drowns them in it.

  I mentioned the comparison because of the devotee word, not the food or other things that might help.
  Even if Ravinders statements are having valuable info i still hit that same rock about him advertising his beliefs to be the right one. religion or othere sect are not the answer to his problem it will just mascarade his problem that is al it will do unless you go deep within and take away the root problem, alcoholism is just a way of masacading that problem to.

    Dear Cedric, Hare Krishna is not a religion as it is Transcendental. You do not need to join if you do not wish but you are welcome to their Feasts and Govinda's restaurant. The food that they make is made by devotees who try hard to follow certain Spiritual Principles. All their cooks are pure Vegetarians as you must know that the consciousness of the cook goes in the food. Their food is later offered with a prayer to remove all karmas and becomes spiritual food and when one eats this food it starts working on them and soon...ish any bad addictions fade away. Srila Prabhupada their Spiritual Master was asked by someone during his leacture class what he could do to his addiction to alcohol and smoking and he was advised to keep eating Krishna food and soon..ish his addiction will be lost and his Mind, Body and Spirit restored. All food and drink that you have must be offered to the Lord first otherwise you are merely eating sin food.
    Taking to devotees helps as some of them had addictions before they decided to follow a spiritual path.

      thiss is also a grate advize Shelly > he sose say that he dosnot like hem self rite now bat he knows he is willing to change > i will sujest hem to write all hes rgate cwaletis down on the payper to help with a self estem thankyou for your good advice ;0)

      he is etyng good foods and is in the midel of row food dayet becos of hes stomack so that will avenshually happend i know the food is allso makes a big difrense the way we feel

  and i would suggest also to search online info on the subject, at
  vegetarian and raw food forums and blogs, to see if he can find similar situations
  from other people, and if and how proper diet and nutrition helped them in any
  way to overcome such an addiction...
  i believe with a healthy mindset and a proper diet, he can get away from his addiction...

  Ogla, God Bless you.....I'm sorry to say from my exoerience and what I know you cannot do anything yourself to get your friend to stop drinking. You can show your love to him and let him know how you are concerned, but ultimately only the person themself can stop. My advice is to get them to go into a Rehab Facility, have an intervention and let him know how you feel, have his close family and friends there to urge him to go into rehab and take him there. You can lead an alcoholic to recovery but you can't make him partake, he has to find the strength within himself to stop, you cannot do it for him!?
  
  You can pray for him, but he has to take the first step!!
