Just thinking of the verse where Jesus says 'unless a man be born again, he cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven'. (John 3:5)
I'm just thinking of the process of spiritual awakening, and all that is involved in the process. Most of us who have woken up, literally had to go through Hell to get there. Our lives just fell apart, the rug was pulled out from underneath us in whatever we put our security in, we lost jobs, health, homes, marriages etc.
It's not until you are awakened that you begin to realise that you don't want to set out to hurt other's anymore. It's not an intention.
But having been a born-again Christian in the past, I was just awful. I wasn't half as empowered as what I am now.
Do you think there's a link with becoming awakened and being 'born again'? It's not something that people can just do or sign up for. Rather - it's a whole process.
Christians can say they are 'born again' Christians, yet many of them are not really 'Awakened'.

"except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
-The most quoted book in the history :P
Jesus (Joshua ben Joseph) had long been a student of the mystery schools, believe it or not. So many of his sayings (the ones that are recorded) carry the language of the secret societies of the day. He was the original scholar and professor of love, this is why the priesthood feared him. They knew who he was, if you look into the scriptures, esp. New Testament, you'll see how the Pharisees reacted to him. He was speaking their language, betraying their falsity and treason to the true religion. He was living evidence and fact that a person could gain knowledge in all aspects of human endeavor and not be tainted or corrupted by weak human nature. He was loved by the common people, hated by the political and priest class of the day. Still is, from what I see. "Born again" merely refers to the experience of spiritual awakening, the spurting of the kundalini energy, if you want to get technical. It really confuses the issue more than clarifies it. I believe the exchange between Nicodemus and Jesus was a story illustrating this experience. Nicodemus was "up in a tree" (in the mind), Jesus told him he was to go to his house to have dinner (spiritual food/thought). Nicodemus gets the message and realizes what the Redeemer is talking about.
Nice post Butterfly ;)
let me reiterate it again, being born again is a concious choice to enter in the Heavenly Kingdom, which in reality you are and will be co-creating with all that is. This decision can come when you have awakened, but awakeing is not ENTERING. One understands that love is the way (not wanting to hurt others). You "awaken" then you have to decide. You decide when you get ready yet "time is not forever".
I Love your name Butterfly ...
