At a young age, we are all keen to experiment with what alcohol does to the mind.

When experimenting, my excuse would be, "it increases my EQ (emotional intelligence quotient)."
Can it be used as a way of getting to know someone better? What if I have a crush on someone? Should we get high together? Will we discover hidden things about them? Can I consider this or is it dangerous (if you become addicted)?
Is it more appealing than meditation? (this website talks too much about meditation :P)

  • I got the idea from a movie called "Going the Distance." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1322312/
My friends say they study way too much during the week, and it's stressful for them to be studying so much, so they go out each weekend and get high on cannabis. They say it's only once a week, so there's no damage, and they say it helps a lot to unwind.
I wouldn't mind using this unwinding technique, but if someone close to me found out, I would be in big trouble.
  • Dear Francis,

Yes, alcohol - as many other drugs I know about theoretically as well as practically very well ;) can be used as tools to archive specific psychical or physical results.

Actually the very definition of the word 'drug' is any substance that can influence your body or mind.

If a person commits violent actions after taking drugs then it is not the drugs fault but it is the fault of that person.

However there are a few substances like cocaine (and to some degree alcohol, too) that tend to make you feeling so superior that chances are great that this persons does treat others like they were worthless. (especially if high doses are consumed).

If two persons had unpleasant expieriences of aggression (with specific substances) than they maybe on the right way if they try peace and harmony creating drugs like cannabis usually does.

    "In vinum verum est."

There are so many drugs that it is simply impossible to put all into a single category like "dangerous" or "addictive".

Anyway the greatest danger is always to be not aware of specific negative side effects or long time health risks.

Yes, for me it is much more attractive to consume drugs than to meditate but this is simply because it makes me feel very uncomfortable because my back pain problem. :/

Fortunately however there are drugs against pain, too ;D
