The conspiracy theorists are now running the nut-house!!!! Pro-Israeli House Majority Leader Cantor had $5 million to spend on his campaign and David Brat had $200,000. What are we going to do if money can't buy elections?

Eric Cantor loses primary in big upset; Lindsey Graham avoids runoff

(CNN) -- In what's being described as a political "earthquake," a tea party neophyte booted the No. 2 House Republican, Eric Cantor, from office. But the tea party suffered a setback in South Carolina, where incumbent Lindsey Graham prevailed to avoid a runoff.

Cantor conceded the race with 99% of precincts reporting from the Richmond-area district showing him trailing Dave Brat 56% to 44%, according to the Virginia Secretary of State's website. Turnout was low.

"Obviously we came up short," Cantor said in his concession speech.

"It's disappointing sure but I believe in this country. I believe there is opportunity around the next corner for all of us," said Cantor, whose loss is all the more shocking because he's considered very conservative.

Eric Cantor\'s loss caught Washington watchers completely off-guard.

Cantor failed to 'pay attention at home'

In a statement following Cantor's defeat, House Speaker John Boehner called the No. 2 Republican "a good friend and a great leader."

In his victory speech, Brat struck a populist tone.

"Dollars do not vote, you do," he said. "When I go to D.C., every vote I take will move the pendulum in the direction of the people, away from Washington, D.C.; back to the states; back to the localities; and back to you."

Mark Preston, CNN's executive political editor, said the defeat would have national implications since Cantor has been viewed as ambitious and a potential speaker.

"This came out of nowhere," Preston said.

CNN Political Analyst David Gergen called it an "earthquake" that would "send shock waves through the Republican ranks."

  • TOM: you obviously listen to mainstream media too much.  The tea party has a reputation for quoting parts of the Constitution.  And note that the mainstream media loved to turn off the audio when Ron Paul used to quote the Constitution out of fear that the public may learn something.  I don't agree with Brat's use of "Christian" with his term capitalism, but he does quote the Constitution (unlike Cantor).

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." This clause was applied to states through the Fourteenth Amendment. The Fourteenth Amendment (Amendment XIV) to the United States Constitution was adopted on July 9, 1868, and addresses equal protection of U.S. citizens including any freedom of religion that the citizens have legal rights to.  The Tea Party preaches the Constitution, and the First Amendment includes separation of church and state in regards to such religion. Brat's use of "Christian" in "Christian capitalism" is nothing more than an adjective, and a bad-sounding one at that..

  • it was mostly his support for illegals getting amnesty-why was he bothering supporting bamas amnesty plans, bama is breaking fed laws by allowing more and more illegals in

    • Actually it was low turn-out of supporters or potential supporters for Cantor that did him in, since the Mexico border is a long way from his constituents.  Brat won with popular grassroots support, and the fascists in Washington D.C. with smiley faces are now responding with a vengence, because they know their days of very easy Monday though Friday 9-5 desk work (with after hour work consisting of various "lines" to look at and "jobs" done by others (and in that order) inside limousines provided by lobbyists) are now coming to a close, and they will actually have to work for the public (well, a little bit anyway).

At the head of the line is AOL’s Huffington Post. Kasey Varner and Amanda Terkel warn about Brat’s Christian capitalism:

ThinkProgress, the Democrat propaganda blog run by the Clintonite John Podesta and his Center for American Progress, add a scary Hitler caveat to Brat’s treatise on unvarnished capitalism:

Meanwhile, Media Matters, the establishment Democrat attack dog endorsed by wealthy progs through Democracy Alliance and funded in part by George Soros, ACORN bankroller Marion Sandler and the CIA’s Ford Foundation, blame Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham and “right-wing radio” for Brat’s victory (voters, naturally, counted for nothing during the primary):

ThinkProgress went so far as to insinuate Cantor lost because he twisted tea party arms too much. Once again, the real reason for Cantor’s loss and Brat’s victory is ignored – voters in Virginia are tired of establishment Republicans who closely resemble establishment Democrats when it comes down to things that matter (like, for instance, obeying the Constitution and opposing marching orders issued by banksters and crony corporatists):

Unfortunately, Glenn Greenwald is barking up the wrong tree, but then liberals are dedicated to their cherished social issues. Glenn, David Brat is the best you can hope for when it comes to clamping down on the NSA. Establishment politicos like Cantor and virtually every Republican and Democrat in the district of criminals has acquiesced to the high-tech Stasi surveillance state:

This is just the beginning. Libertarianism, especially when infused with Christianity, is anathema in Washington. Expect both sides of the one party political class to attack David Brat and undermine his tenure in the House after he trounces Democrat vampire writer Jack Trammell laster this year.

  • Cantor always made me feel frightened for America and the world... hope this other guy loses in the next election to anybody that runs against him. IMO, the tea partiers have been hoodwinked by corporate/facsist types.

    • I predict Cantor will become a lobbyist for Israel or get a role in a forth coming movie about Nazi Germany and how that war should have ended according to a select few in Hollywood (and maybe we can call this movie "Tea Party Bastards.")  Better yet, maybe Cantor can go to Israel with his citizenship, and run for public office with some of those million dollars he received in his losing U.S. campaign.

Picking a mainstream Democrat or Republican is choosing between two different flavors of Kool Aid with the same amount of cyanide in each.  DON'T DRINK THE KOOL AID.  I don't like tea, but at least I know what I'm drinking may not kill me.

  • I know a lot of people on this site are against the Tea Party, but I am glad to see a third party get in.

    • Some Ashtar people claiming a spiritual identity (especially younger people) believe in this ridiculous multi-millionaire Russell Brand concept whereby spirituality is complete ignorance as to how government uses your tax payments (as opposed to focus on the skin color or the religion of the people running  things, which supposedly will make you more spiritual).  Younger people today want to be associated with "the winning team," or be associated with the team whereby you'll look fashionable or acceptable (or have a better chance at getting laid).  And for those of you who disagree with this, take a look at the priorities of this current "fashionable" U.S. government administration, no different than the previous "fashionable" U.S. government administration (note that defense expenses against the possible reincarnations of Osama Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein is tied for #1 with what the government considers to be important for its people or, important for certain 'types' of people, especially if they have a certain kind of duel citizenship:
