1) You are attached to the outcome;
2) Emotions are what is causing the attachment;
3) When you are in a state of attachment, you are not in present time.
Difficulty #1 - attached to the outcome
You have planned, dreamed, prayed and pursued, and the results are not matching the vision. Physically, you are probably in a state of distress and unease. More than likely you are holding your breath at intervals or at least breathing shallowly. Your mind and body have aligned themselves into attachment and into seeing goals manifested. your mind and body are tight.
To overcome this difficulty, try detachment. Easier said than done? Perhaps, but look at it this way: detachment is not an act of will, it is an act of grace. It is an act of being. The state of attachment is extremely yang, masculine, action and doing oriented; the state of detachment is very yin, feminine, receptive, being-oriented. In order to become detached while still maintaining vision and active Life participation, discipline of the awareness of being is needed.
This means noticing your emotions, thoughts and actions. The act of noticing releases you from outcome and brings you into present-time being.
Difficulty #2
Your emotions are what is causing the attachment
Emotions can propel you through the next open door and can instigate change. Emotions are the information bearers of patterns and purposes. They are the gauges by which you can check your environment internally and externally.
However, what needs to be remembered here is that there is also supraternal information which overrides all other data. Supraternal information is that information which is of Self, Spirit, God, whatever you want to call it. It is that all-pervasive environment of which you are a part; of which you are.
Difficulty #3
When you are in a state of attachment you are not in present time
Attachment squeezes possibilities and dries up the pool of creative solutions. Attachment takes you and your personal power either into the past or into the future. It removes you from the present wherein all solutions exist. It removes you from your body. It separates you from God, therefore, creates fear.
To overcome this difficulty, breathe. This is the first simple and practical step towards returning to present time and to your body. Notice your fingers, the weight of your feet on the floor, that tightness in your neck, hum of the refrigerator, the sob in your chest, the smell of last night's dinner in the air. Slowly re-enter this moment. Breath will bring you to a no-action state of being. Breath will bring you into the receptive yin mode. Breath will show you the next appropriate and timely steps to take from a place of being.
Detachment has nothing to do with efforting to detach and everything to do with being aware of the attachment. And, in that act of observation is being. The veery act of observation automatically alters the observed.
The next time Life doesn't seem to be meeting you, ferret out your attachment and invite it to tea.
