Your brain is the boss. Your eyes don't tell the brain what is seen; they just send information. The brain tells the eyes what is seen. Your brain also has to make sense of the stimulus by processing the information and then give you an experience.
When you're sleeping, many things happen that is explainable and unexplainable. There's the five senses. There's the invisible stuff going on around us. There's your brain rewiring short term memory into long term. While this is all happening, your brain will try to make sense of it.
Those experiences can cause strong emotions, and you may want to reach out to find some kind of answers. You naturally did what you should've done and discussed your dream with people. Discussion about these crazy things can help you settle down. You appear to be healthy based on what is going on here.
I have had some dreams like that too. Had one last year where a CME fried everything on the surface. Didn't happen.
Truth is, they are deflecting the CMEs from the planet, and keeping the earthquakes from being too powerful.
They won't let a meteor hit the planet either.
Doomsday dreams are very common. I suggest not taking it literally but psychologically. Or even better, take it for it's entertainment value.
Do you know how many people had doomsday dreams surrounding the whole Dec 21, 2012 gossip? Many. Did any of them happen? Nope. It was all something their imaginations created and played out for them... for whatever reasons. Mostly because it was something that concerned them. It concerned them enough that their dream mind/imagination decided to play out scenarios for them.
But sometimes dreams happen even when you're not completely committed to the idea. It happens. A lot.

Everything needs to be Justified. No matter what it is, it has to be made Justified somehow. It's a bit of a mathematical process. Always need to reach Balance.

It was almost like a depiction of a what if scenario.
My grandmother is a Jehovah's Witness, as she believes Jehovah will destroy the Earth of its Wicked souls. Meaning destroy the evil people. Which is ironic because religion believes we will be experiencing our world being destroyed to its max, and people like us believe we can save ourselves by creating a protective shield for our selves and loved ones. Whichever reasoning people will use their abilities for.

............many often times, personal dreams are the expression of everyday thoughts, actions , fears. When we dream of bad things happen , we manifest of the same. You are what you think, say and do as "some wise" master once said.
Imagine peacefull , loving humanity, everyone surviving this mess , practice loving meditation and I bet , your dreams will have far more positive outcome for entire well being of your personal space and those around you.
