Feelings of being detached.

Recently I have been feeling really detached from the place I am living in. The first two years here I enjoyed it quite a bit, but in the last few months especially I have been slowly drifting away. I have been feeling very detached from nature especially because I now live near the centre of town during the week, but there is alot more it than that. It's getting to the point that I am feeling quite uncomfortable. I feel like I want to live somewhere else, but I just dont have the means to move. Any thoughts on this?

  • Well to be honest with you, I don't want to be doing the job I am - but unfortunately I have to until I can get my book published. Perhaps the lack of human relationships is affecting me also, but I'm not so sure. I think the fact that I haven't got my book published and feel I should already have done so is really troubling me.

  • Rearrange your furniture (you can get that dust hiding under your couch finally!). Replace some furniture (even if it's just a side table or picture frame). Start one of those indoor gardens or window gardens. Oh! Buy some colorful, funky dishtowels! Get some new bedsheets (600 thread count or higher! A real 600, not one where the company lies and says it's 600 but it's actually 300) to add some new color to the room. Change out the curtains. Get a new "welcome mat" for your front door. If your front door gets sunlight, buy some potted flowers to add some color to greet you when you get home. And if it doesn't... buy some flowers for the inside of your home! Flowers are usually pretty good at "upping the vibe" of a room.

It sounds like moving would be ideal, but I know what it's like to want to move and not be able to. Taking a vacation sounds like a good idea. Even if it's just for the weekend so you don't miss work (1 day 1 night camping with a starry night sky is better than 0 days 0 nights).

Since you can't change your living location at this moment in time, maybe introduce some new people into your life. Have a party. It's almost cinco demayo!  If you're particularly risky, get a roommate to split the bills. It'll add a new energy to your home and if not being able to move is due to financial reasons, having a roommate that helps pay the bills will give you a chance to save up for moving costs.

Oh, it's also concert/festival season! Go to one that you'll like =)

Get a pet fish! I would say dog, but a fish is a shorter commitment. Plus you can decorate a fishtank to liven up the room and change the scene in the bowl every once in awhile to freshen it up.

    • Hello Leffotrak,

Thanks for all the recommendations. Trouble is it isn't my place I live in... I'm a live-in manager of a property so I can't change anything. I think the main problem is the location... its very central so there's lots of traffic and there is no greenery nearby... very manufactured and un-homely kind of feeling. Thing is since I don't need to pay rent it is a major incentive to stay... especially since I don't earn very much... I spend most of it on travelling... my one pleasure in life. I want to meet new people, but its impossibly difficult to meet genuine heart centered people like here on Ashtar command. All the people I meet are the usual brainwashed 3D ego-centered humans. I'd love to have a pet also, but it would be impossible because of my situaion.

  • Can you take a mini vacation. It's easy to get into ruts when our lives become routine. It will do your field some good to get out into nature and ground. Release the disharmonious energy and bring star light into your body.
    • Yes, well actually I'm going to Italy later in the month to do exactly this... but the problem is I always come back feeling I don't belong. I've been doing alot of mini-trips this year- perhaps that is why I am feeling detached.

  • Well I have a job now and am living in a new place, so am spending less time in nature. Perhaps also the novelty of being in a new place has worn off a bit. But there is something else...
