There are many horoscopes of the United States. I use the American Federation of Astrologers horoscope, with Mars in Gemini conjunct the Ascendant.  The Declaration of Independence was a writing parchment (Gemini) that was a reflection of a popular and well-defined expression of the ego (Mars) in the environment (Ascendant) at that time in the American colonies. I also suspect that this was the time that Independence Hall was opened up and prepared for the signers; electional astrology calls for the unlocking and opening of the door (or the time one is allowed to enter an establishment) as the time to use for the horoscope of a non- human entity:

Most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were freemasons, and the star of Sirius (or "Osiris") at 12 degrees Cancer  was undoubtedly an important symbol for them.  This may be why they wanted the Sun placement there. Astrologer Ben Franklin also had lucky Jupiter conjunct the star of Sirius, and I suspect that July 4th may have been selected (or pushed) by him for the date for signing of the Declaration of independence, possibly for his own ulterior motives with transiting Sun conjuncting his natal Jupiter (which is a lucky transit). Here are what some other noted writers had to say about Ben Franklin:

The first house is the entities general image, and the U.S.A. has Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and the Sun in this house.  This indicates an entity with a much varied image, capable of "manifest destiny" or physical "expansion" (Jupiter), having much independent transportation and individual free speech (Mars in Gemini), and a selective and discriminating personality over selection of its' allies or groups of people it will take care of and consider as "family" (Venus and Sun in Cancer).

The second house of financial resources has Mercury in Cancer in it.  Cancer rules silver, and although the colonists used colonial fiat script for money at that time, silver was recognized and respected as real money at that time. Because Mercury represents "pen and paper," this may define silver certificates to be used as money, which eventually did happen. The Federal Reserve horoscope of 12/23/1913 (6:02 PM) had the midpoint of Mars/Neptune ("deceptive actions") less than 1/2 a degree away from equaling this U.S.A. Mercury placement, and U.S. silver certificates (redeemable for silver metal) would be eliminated by the Federal Reserve.

The third house of media, postal service, roads, and communications has the North Node there in the sign of Leo. The North Node rules connections, and Leo rules gold and entertainment. Roads and their creation to allow the nation to expand and connect to other areas will be as "good as gold" and allow U.S. citizens to explore and look for "gold," be it the metal, furs, or other sources deemed exchangeable.  This may also indicate the many gold rushes that took place, be it on Cherokee land in Georgia, Sioux burial land in South Dakota, Northern California, Alaska, or other areas in the U.S.

The fourth house rules land and real estate, and this house has deceptive Neptune in it and is in a square with Mars in Gemini. Since 90% of all written contracts with native American Indians regarding land were broken via lies, this is what this placement represents in my opinion. A nation with drug addiction and alcoholism problems (Neptune in Virgo) are also problems with this placement, as is deception (Neptune) with the media and its reporting of "needed war activity" (Mars in Gemini), possibly with the American Indians, then the "communists," and now the "terrorists" (here or abroad). The good news is that a lot of Americans are waking up to this nonsense, and the change in media viewership sources is reflecting this.

The fifth house of speculation and entertainment has Saturn in Libra, and Saturn is in a square with the Sun in Cancer. Saturn represents military brass and oppressive tendencies of government, in addition to older people and "reality."  The square (technical conflict) between Saturn (oppressive government) and the Sun (national identity) represents a potential fight or serious conflict between government and national expression of dislike of tyranny. Saturn in the fifth house defines no speculation will be considered regarding any reconciliation or mediation; it's "all or nothing." This placement may have later evolved into government dislike for financial speculation (i.e. central banking with fiat money), which is now being tested with placement of pro-central banking government officials in the government that refuse to let bad banks die out and fold due to fear of economic calamity "on their watch."

The sixth house represents military service, public health, and working class trades. This house is ruled by Pluto (obsessions), and the U.S.A. throws more money at the military industrial simplex and health care than any other country on this planet. Because Pluto can be "the analyst at best or the gangster at worst," mafia involvement with labor unions may also be an interpretation of the Scorpio sixth house.

The seventh house is ruled by Jupiter (law and legal philosophy), and this is the house of one-on-one encounters, relationships, legal systems, and legal forums. And yes, the U.S.A. has LOTS of lawyers that decide everything, be it product/service quality or safety (via lawsuits or threats thereof), how to legally steal private property needed to keep the government going (called "eminent domain"), and how to confiscate firearms from public citizens if complaints about eminent domain may become a future reality (despite the heavy amount of Prozac (i.e. fluoride) placed in the drinking water).  Jupiter is known to create excesses, and the outrageous number of lawyers in the U.S.A. (many who can't find work at this time) may reflect such excesses.

The eighth house represents banking, insurance, and secretive activities. Pluto in Capricorn (obsession with government/business) is there, and this currently represents "the big club" conspiracy consisting of billionaires and elitists that want one thing: a return to the old feudal serfdom system that requires you to rent and not own property. This is the same "big club" that you and I are not a member of (AND YES, THIS INCLUDES YOU GOVERNMENT SPOOKS READING THIS. It's a big club, and you aint in it, regardless of the neat little tricks you learned at Carnegie Mellon on how to screw over alternative media sources or retrieve info from someone's electronic communications tools at the behest of members of "the big club." These individuals view you like a can of Coke, and you will be tossed in the trash after these criminals get what they want out of you). Pluto in Capricorn (in the eighth house) is also the money-addicts "magnet" of the U.S.A. horoscope which once offered financial opportunity, and this opportunity unfortunately was taken advantage of and led to monopoly-type business models. The obsession with banking/insurance and preservation thereof (despite criminal activity in those sectors) is another current reflection of this placement.

The ninth house rules higher education and publishing, and it has the Moon in Aquarius in it. As with the placement of Saturn in the fifth house, this selection may have been decided by our U.S.A. freemasons to favor a population that thought out things logically and not speculatively. The ninth house rules religious organizations and philosophy, and with the Moon in logical/scientific Aquarius there, it may have been also planned for this ninth house placement as a means to avoid attraction of religious extremism groups.  

The tenth house of career and business trends is also ruled by Uranus in Aquarius. Aquarius is strongly related to science and technology, and with the financial opportunity that once rewarded individual achievement a long time ago, it is interesting that foreigners with innovative business ideas and products immigrated to the U.S.A. due to freedom and financial opportunity that the U.S.A. offered, and Europe and Asia did not (a long time ago). THIS WAS A TIME WHERE IT WAS RECOGNIZED THAT YOU BUILT THAT BUSINESS OR INVENTION AND YOU SHOULD THEREFORE BE REWARDED FOR YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS, AND NOT THE GOVERNMENT. My, how times have changed.

The eleventh house is ruled by Neptune, and this has a classical interpretation of an entity getting fooled or deceived by those considered to be allies or associates (or big financial contributors) AND lying to those considered to be allies (as was the case with the American Indians). Neptune is afflicted with its square to Mars, and Neptune rules oil and pharmaceutical drugs.  The deceptions and bad intentions brought on by these "allies" (regardless of what they bring to government coffers) may be the modern definition of the eleventh house per deceptive allies.

The twelfth house has Uranus in Gemini placed there, and this house is ruled by Venus. This is indicative of superior intelligence gathering capability; Uranus rules computers and inventive capability concerning intelligence gathering. But Venus is in a sesquiquadrate with the Moon, and with Venus ruling the twelfth, this may represent public tension over superior intelligence capability. And because the twelfth house can represent crime levels (and Uranus can represent shocking response from citizens to government changes), there is a possibility for grassroots uprisings with Uranus in the twelfth house.
