A save, plausible way for 'free' energy goes this way: consider two points in space, call them p0 and p1 respectively. To source/creat free energy from p0 we must sink/destroy energy at p1. This creats entropic force in between p0 and p1. This force is now used for various purposes as in lighting, driving mortors etc.

Ha ha, of course given such devices that output energy without any input, the world will soon end in a bang!

It looks like you are talking of the perpertual machines of the first kind, those that violet the first law of thermodynamics. Many physicists can never get past few sentenses reading about the possibility of such machines. We can perharps monkey with relativity, quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, newtonian physics etc. But thermodynamics? Forget about it!
