Lavender oil is an essential oil that is widely used for health and wellness applications.

It is said to be the gentlest of essential oils and one of the most powerful. This makes it a firm favorite for healing properties and there are many uses.

Lavender Oil Has More Than 150 Active Constituents

Lavender oil has a structure that is very complex with more than 150 active constituents and this explains why it is so effective in helping many ailments. The Lavender oil possesses anti-inflammatory properties, it is an anti-fungal, antiseptic, antidepressant, antibacterial, antimicrobial, analgesic, used for detox and it works as a sedative, among other things.

Researchers in Florida found out that benefits of Lavender oil include a reduction in the level of anxiety and it lowers the pulse rate in nurses who have taken tests that are stressful. In hospital settings, lavender is used in aromatherapy and it is said to decrease stress in pre-surgery and aid in relaxation.

Lavender Oil Helps With Many Conditions

Lavender oil is widely used for its medicinal purposes and it can help to reduce depression, ease the pains of labor and improve insomnia. It has been suggested that the oil benefits people with headaches, sinus congestion and hangovers and it can greatly help with relieving pain.

There has been a great deal of research on lavender and some of it has focused on the administration of lavender by olfactory route. In small and medium clinical trials the anxiolytic activity of lavender olfaction was demonstrated. The efficacy of lavender used in aromatherapy is said to be due to psychological effects that come from the fragrance that is combined with physiological effects of the oils, which are volatile, in the limbic system.

Lavender oil has a calming effect and single constituents might be the base of traditional uses of Lavender. Lavender oil olfaction has revealed a decrease in levels of anxiety and this was measured using the Hamilton rating scale, 51 and increases mood scores.

Lavender Lemonade With Lavender Essential Oil

One way of getting the many benefits of Lavender, along with having a drink that looks beautiful, is drinking it as Lavender lemonade. This is a drink that is very easy to make up as follows:

  • 1 Drop of Lavender essential oil
  • 1 cup of raw honey
  • 12 cups of pure water
  • Juice of 6 lemons
  • Ice cubes
  • Sprigs of Lavender for garnishing.

How To Make It

First mix all of the ingredients from above together and give it a good stir or shake. If needed add more honey for sweetness or water to further dilute. Add ice cubes and drink ice cold.

Lavender Oil For Curing Anxiety And Headaches

  • Put 6 drops of Lavender oil in the bath water and soak in the bath
  • Diffuse 12 drops of Lavender oil into the air that is in the room during the day for natural relief from stress
  • Put 2 drops of Lavender oil for each ounce of unrefined organic oil, such as olive oil, and use as a body oil to get all the healing benefits of Lavender oil and to help improve the skin and relaxation. It will also help to keep insects away as you sleep.
