Healthy and Delicious: the value of Dates
The date variety "Deglet Nour" means “Finger of Light” and refers to the special translucent quality of the fruit: when held up to the sun the stone within is clearly visible.
The golden to amber coloured dates have juicy and firm flesh. Their unique fruity and sweet flavour has pleasant honey and caramel accents. Our dates are 100% natural and are not treated with glucose. No artificial ingredients are added whatsoever.
The Deglet Nour date is a wholesome fruit and a wonderful source of energy. Travellers across the desert often subsist for weeks on a handful of dates. Their high water content means they are also excellent thirst-quenchers. Dates contain more fibre than wholemeal bread and more calcium than bananas. They are rich in vital nutrients and vitamins (A, D, B1 and B2) and minerals (Calcium, Iron and Phosphorus). They are also high in fructose and so deliver energy rapidly.
