The point of karmic lessons is to know that they are there to serve a purpose of teaching you a lesson or maybe paying back a past karmic debt that had happened. If one can humbly accept the karmic lesson and learn from it with the utmost level of forgiveness then they can build momentum and start the climb up the karmic ladder.
Unconscience spiritual souls will usually receive one karmic lesson every 2 years unless they don't' pass the lesson. If they don't pass the lesson: the lesson will show up in different forms until you get it.
If you don't create bad karma and pass your lessons you can obtain 1-3 light quotient points to add to your light body. The normal person may have learned 3-5 lessons throughout the lifetime. A light worker probably a bit more. The object is to get your light quotient to near 50 percent to get to a conscience light working status or planetary ascension.
Ascended masters have gotten to near 100 percent and usually have endured many karmic lessons...they are very strong willed, and faithful even though they have had to endure some very tough lessons. Some of them have endured 30-50 lessons in one lifetime!
All ascension pursuers have the option to ask for their karmic lessons quicker once they realize some tools on how to deal with the lessons. Once you ask and prove to get through them efficiently, they can come every six-nine months.

I like this. I try to teach my kids (boys 3, 9 and 19) to be "good people" by way of general Karma. It tends to teach consequences before kids really start to catch on to long term consequence effects. They are very good hearted kids and are only wanting to please and give anyone they come across. They also seem to be more intuitive to "good" and "bad" energy too which I believe is also connected to this. I know there are strong believers that Karma does not exist but I personally believe it can only do good.
