I recall reading a story many years ago about when mankind couldn't speak and a hunter would stand at the edge of a forest and blow a horn of some type, and an animal would present itself for slaughter, to feed the tribe, and the animal would be slaughtered with love and kindness. The animal gave itself so that the people could survive, and the whole event was done in the spirit of love.
I myself could never harm animals, and while I grew up watching chickens, rabbits and other animals slaughtered for food, I couldn't ever do it. If I had to kill to survive, my survival time would be very short indeed.
There is so much information on the cruelty to animals within the food industry, and you would think in so called civilised societies there would be another way, or in the very least the animals would be treated with some respect.
I must admit, I'm not a vegan, though I tend to eat little meat.
