Hypnotherapy

In my opinion one of the most misunderstood types of natural healing therapy is hypnotherapy. It seems to be the natural healing modality with a huge number of myths and misconceptions regarding it.And i would put a lot of these myths and misconceptions down to the movies and also to stage hyponotists shows.I have always been interested in natural health and in particular the mind - it is so powerful! That is why i embarked on the study of hypnotherapy about 8 years ago and went on to get my Advanced Diploma in Hypnotherapy.Hypnosis has so many applications it is amazing - from being the most effective method of removing warts to the most commonly thought of applications of weight loss to stop smoking and dealing with fears and phobias. Hypnotherapy can be very effective in dealing with early life or past life trauma through the use of regression therapy. And for pain control people have had all 4 wisdom teeth removed with no anaesthetic and women given birth using hypno-birthing - no other from of pain control.So, what is hypnosis and hypnotherapy exactly?Hypnotherapy is very simply … therapy or suggestions, given to a client who is experiencing the state of hypnosis. Suggestions, in themselves, can have a very therapeutic effect on the mind and body.Hypnotherapy has been likened to meditation, and while both allow you to achieve similar levels of relaxation, there is a very major difference:· With meditation you are usually attempting to "empty" or clear your mind, letting go of everyday thoughts and worries.· With hypnotherapy, the therapist gives you appropriate, positive suggestions, while using techniques that will assist you to achieve your goals. So instead of emptying your mind, you are powerfully focusing it on positive ideas and goal orientated suggestions.Many people live normal, healthy lives, and yet there may be some aspect(s) they want to change. For example, getting rid of a phobia, reducing anxiety and stress, or removing a habit. Or, they may want to improve their memory, concentration or self-confidence. Clients often say they have tried using will- power, but some changes need to take place at a subconscious level, because this is where our automatic patterns, habits and responses are established.What can I expect when I visit a hypnotherapist?As with any health professional, a hypnotherapist will begin by getting some background information. Then they will discuss with you what it is you want to achieve, and whether your goal is achievable and realistic. The therapist will discuss any concerns or questions you may have, and explain hypnosis to you and what you can expect to experience during the session.The hypnotherapist will then guide you into the pleasant, relaxed state of hypnosis, and use any one of a range of hypnotherapeutic and psychotherapeutic techniques to help you let go of old and ineffective behaviour and responses, become more resourceful, and to become the person you want to be.Most hypnotherapists are freelance and set their own fees. We suggest that you contact a hypnotherapist in your area to discuss your requirements. The price depends on the area, the therapist's qualifications and experience, and the length of the session.As we are all individuals and respond differently to hypnosis it is not possible to give a specific answer. A lot can depend on the changes you want to make. Some changes may take as little as 1-3 sessions; others may take a little longer. The hypnotherapist may be able to give you a better idea after discussing your responses at your first session.Hypnotherapy has a broad application base. It has been used for many years with medical treatment, and can be used to make many different kinds of changes. Children have wonderful imaginations, which can be extremely helpful when making changes with hypnotherapy.Hypnotherapy can assist children with many problems, including bed wetting, confidence and self-esteem, motivation, sport, nail biting, eating, reading, study, memory, exams, relaxation, anger, and coping with bullying, etc.Like any natural health practitioner ensure your therapist has done plenty of study, (not just a weekend or two study) and is a member of a large National organisation such as the National Guild of Hypnotists in the USA or the NZ Assoc of Professional Hypnotherapists in New Zealand. And assuming you find a qualified and skilled practitioner, I believe, that hypnotherapy is absolutely incredible! As what the mind can conceive and believe, you can achieve!

Yea, this stuff is facinating. I cant say I am a xpert in any capacity but I have read/studied some of it over the years. I think it is due to my research into what constitutes "reality" and there is so much cool stuff connected to hypnosis in it's different forms.

I have tried a few "subliminal" CD's, and after a couple of days I could feel the effects. I also accuired a PC program, "neuro programmer 2" if my infallible memory serves me correct, but I haven't had time to take it for a test run yet....he he, I'm too much everywhere and all around, so it is hard to be consistent for any lenght of time. I got alot of stuff I'd like to test/find out/xperiment with, of course connected to my quest of "reality" and all that that entails.

But luckily I dont take part in the game of society any longer, so I dont have money either he he hehe, so that xludes any "misuse" of more professional help....so I do it myself. But there's lot's to learn, and in this regard, I am a toddler.
My main interest has been "the other thing" but I always come back to hypnotherapy/hypnosis since it directly connects to the subconscious mind. Coz the mind is a key, y'know what I mean...dont want to venture into "all that" now, I'll just end up typing all night....alot of hola-hola that noone reads anyway heh he hehehe he he...besides, it's almost 3:30 in the morning and the magic realm is calling, they're waiting for me over at never-never land...so I gotta run now :D

But yea, indeed fascinating stuff and highly recomended for everyone.

Yea, this stuff is facinating. I cant say I am a xpert in any capacity but I have read/studied some of it over the years. I think it is due to my research into what constitutes "reality" and there is so much cool stuff connected to hypnosis in it's different forms.

  I am sure that you could re-do the necessary numbers of hours required and get your license renewed, given that you have already previously been trained or qualified? I belong to the NGH (USA) as i find them to be brilliant and love their Journal of Hypnotherapy too.

I agree 100% with you on this information.

I am also convinced it can do so much good in the world but unfortunately many people still has a weird look on it. It´s about time people learn the real truth behind this subject (it has been denied for too long).
