TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- An Iranian newspaper is reporting that government authorities are confiscating Buddha statues from shops in Tehran to stop the promotion of Buddhism in the country.
Sunday's report by the independent Arman daily quotes Saeed Jaberi Ansari, an official for the protection of Iran's cultural heritage, as saying that authorities will not permit a specific belief to be promoted through such statues.
Ansari called the Buddha statues symbols of "cultural invasion."
He did not elaborate on how many have been confiscated so far, but said more would be seized from shops.
Iran has long fought against items, such as Barbie dolls and Simpsons cartoon characters, to defuse Western influence, but this appears to be the first time that Iranian authorities are showing an opposition to symbols from the East.

The people that give the orders for such acts are the Mullah's and their overlord,Ayatollah Khamenei not Ahmadinejad he is just the face for it (much like Brad Pit is the face for Chanel lol) although he does have much to answer for.
Unfortunately seizing Buddha statues is only the tip of the iceberg and the " Cultural invasion" term is just another excuse for what the regime has done to all religious minorities in Iran. They terrorize Baha'is, Jews and now Buddhists. Primarily so that the people FEAR them.. fear is the key to control. The people themselves have been living in fear not to mention exposed to much brainwashing since the revolution in the 70's. My own mother has not been back because of it. Addressing the confiscation of the statues just brings up a whole lot of other problems in Iran currently.

Listen, instead of hating on them try to understand that religion brainwash. And don't cross every muslim on the same line. do you know why imigrants are in the western countries? because some countries sell weapon to others then they use it on people you get it?
