International Summer Camp for Volunteers “Bosnian Pyramids 2013” has started. First shift volunteers arrived on June 2nd, 2013 to Visoko. They will be followed by seven more shifts until September 22nd, 2013. Several hundred volunteers from six continents are expected to come to the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids, again.
They will join Foundation’s experts in excavation of the first European pyramids and mysterious underground labyrinth. First shift volunteers are coming from Spain, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Italy, France, United States, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Norway and other countries.
Archaeological Manager Tim Moon from New Zealand held the archaeological course first working day, June 3rd. He explained methodology, handling of potential artifacts and organic materials, safety procedures, etc. Principal investigator Dr. Sam Semir Osmanagich guided them through several locations (Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun, Underground Labyrinth) giving them a chronology of the project and scientific results.
They spent Tuesday June 4th working in the underground tunnels and chambers from 9:00 – 15:30. Foundation has provided tools, equipment and local transportation.
First shift is run by dr. Osmanagich (USA/Bosnia), archaeologist Tim Moon (New Zealand) and field supervisors Nigel Short (United Kingdom) and Thomas Marchner (Germany).
