I'd rather one would walk with me than merely show the way.
I can soon learn how to do it, if you'll let me see it done.
I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run.
All these lectures you deliver may be very wise and true;
But, I'd rather get my lesson by observing what you do.
Though I may not understand you and the fine advice you give.
There is no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.

I like the definition I heard once of what a true leader is: One who can lead without expecting others to follow, which is, basically, what this little poem is about, huh?
Another I've always loved is: Don't walk in front of me, I may not always follow; don't walk behind me, I may not always lead; walk beside me and be my friend.
