I can see what you mean, I find discomfort around me that has negative energy. It's hard and the World feels hopeless, I suggest you could find a picture that really builds a postive energy in you or find in your heart what feels best, a spiritual place?
Everyday. Absolutely unavoidable most of the time. Shielding does help and so does not engaging in conversations with them. There really are such things as energy vampires and many of them have no idea that they do so. For the other kind all you can do is love yourself (and everyone else) enough to let them argue and bite at the wind all by themselves. It does no good to reason with them when they can't accept themselves. Love is the key.
Breathing exercises and meditation help.....If ever you experiece emotional or mental imbalance, try toning and affirmation......A very powerful mantra is based on the word of power, AUM........
Try toning for ten minutes after making suitable affirmations...."OM MANI PADME HUM.....!!"
You are most definitely not alone. I am also struggling to be around the negative one's, it really does affect my being so I just do my best to avoid them and keep myself positive.
