Why do these viruses always seem to mutate in the third world?
Doctors Struggling to Fight 'Totally Drug-Resistant' Tuberculosis in South Africa
In a patient's fight against tuberculosis—the bacterial lung disease that kills more people annually than any infectious disease besides HIV— doctors have more than 10 drugs from which to choose. Most of those didn't work for Uvistra Naidoo, a South African doctor who contracted the disease in his clinic. For those who contract the disease now, maybe none of them will.
A new paper published earlier this week in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Emerging Infectious Diseasesjournal warns that the first cases of "totally drug-resistant" tuberculosis have been found in South Africa and that the disease is "virtually untreatable."
Like many bacterial diseases, tuberculosis has been evolving to fend off many effective antibiotics, making it more difficult to treat. But even treatable forms of the disease are particularly tricky to cure; drug sensitive strains must be treated with a six-month course of antibiotics. Tougher cases require long-term hospitalization and a regimen of harsh drugs that can last years.

LONDON (AP) — British officials have found the world's 10th known case of a new coronavirus, a mysterious disease related to SARS and first identified last year.
The patient, a U.K. resident who had been in the Middle East and Pakistan, is in the intensive care unit of a Manchester hospital, according to a statement Monday from Britain's Health Protection Agency.
Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that are behind ailments including the common cold and SARS. SARS killed about 800 people in a global epidemic in 2003.\

Like every new strain, the media will overhype it and attempt to put people in fear, and it won't have anywhere near the devastating effect we'd be programmed to believe it would.
Either way, thanks for sharing Pet Rock.
Much Love!
Wes :)
I posted this Wes because years ago just before the sars outbreak I had a vivid dream about a grinning younger man in a strange looking lab holding a stainless steel flask
Quite a prophetic dream, Pet Rock. It is great to see awareness rising and it is indeed good to know about this stuff. Raising awareness is the first step to seeing things like this put to an end.
Thanks again,
Wes :)
