Lunatic Ivy League professor calls God a 'racist' after Zimmerman verdict
An Ivy League professor blogged after George Zimmerman was found not guilty of murdering Trayvon Martin that the verdict shows God is a “white racist” who stalks “young black men.”
Anthea Butler, an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Religious Studies, made the unusual comments in a blog post released on Monday on ReligionDispatches.org, where she is a regular contributor.
“God ain’t good all of the time. In fact, sometimes, God is not for us,” she wrote in the post. “As a black woman in an [sic] nation that has taken too many pains to remind me that I am not a white man, and am not capable of taking care of my reproductive rights, or my voting rights, I know that this American god ain’t my god.
“As a matter of fact, I think he’s a white racist god with a problem. More importantly, he is carrying a gun and stalking young black men,” she added.
Butler adds that Trayvon Martin’s killing was the result of racism that was influenced by Christianity.
“As a historian of American and African-American religion, I know that the Trayvon Martin moment is just one moment in a history of racism in America that, in large part, has its underpinnings in Christianity and its history,” she wrote. “Those of us who teach American Religion have a responsibility to tell all of the story, not just the nice touchy-feely parts.”
“When the good Christians of America are some of its biggest racists, one has to consider our moral responsibility to call out those who clearly are not for human flourishing, no matter what ethnicity a person is. Where are you on that scale? I know where I am.”
According to her biography, Butler holds doctorate and masters degrees in religion from Vanderbilt University as well as a masters in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. She is the author of a 2007 book titled "Women in the Church of God in Christ, Making A Sanctified World," published by University of North Carolina Press.
Butler, who did not respond to requests for comment, is also an associate chair for the school's religious studies department and is a regular contributor and guest on both MSNBC and CNN.

350 black people have been murdered by black people in Chicago since the Zimmerman trial (WHERE OWNING A GUN IS ILLEGAL) and all this "professor" can focus on is one non-black male murdering a black male. There is something not right here. The "American God" I think of once told the Bank of England and George III to go to hell in 1776 with their British concept of elimination of the middle class via a central banking system and a weapons confiscation of the middle class as a necessary formula to be thrown at the American colonies, much like what is happening today. The "American God" concept is thus nebulous, and this Ivy League provessor is simply revealing her nebulous interpretation, revealing a real dodging of the real issue and the causes of murder of black people, which is social decay (AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHITE PEOPLE OWNING GUNS).
350 black people have been killed in Chicago since the Zimmerman trial. WHY AREN'T THESE MURDER VICTIMS BEING LOOKED AT THE SAME WAY AS TRAYVON MARTIN? BECAUSE BLACK PEOPLE (with 60% of the murderers possibly associated with criminal actifvity) KILLED THESE PEOPLE OF COLOR. Trayvon Martin's mother will collect $ when Zimmerman sues NBC for inserting words in his 911 statement, but the current media is probably playing racist bullsh$t with the outcome of this trial in an attempt to facilitate government action against concealed handgun licensure by common middle class Americans, because they may get upset if their pensions are grabbed by the greedy bankers.
thanks for sharing guys.
wow.
the statement that sometimes god is not for us, is a double edge sword in many ways.
it has been used in church and state tactics to control their tribe, in EVERY race, tribe, family, etc. kind of like keeping a unity of the group : us aganist the others.
does god love the plants, animals, when they all fight to survive for food to feed its body, is a deep question. for everything is atoms in motion and group up to make something solid and living as a group: plant , animal , rock., human.
atoms are not mindless or dumb, a plant is something to see in a microshocpe for it has many cells doing different jobs to keep the plant alive, and this is where i go w.t.f. is the lession here. that maybe atoms need all atomic cell reactions for food energy, emotions of all kinds, chemical mixing of atoms and reactions, decays of matter changing to other atoms and forms etc.
i am just atoms of some transformer feeding creation energy, like group of atoms as a body giving vibrations and frequency of energy, so w.t.f. is love if we are all atoms doing this transformation thu living, dieing, decaying, and then i am still atoms that are not mindless and loves inslef, i know this is not a warm feeling, but i would like to be in the practice of the golden rule, to at least vibrate in the compassinate frequency to treat others as i would like to be treated. this still is not that easy with the d.n.a. codes of the human body to survive. i feel god is real, i just do not understand its nig and yang, proton, electron, neuton, photon etc.
love and compassion happen to me when i see myslef in other's deeds and actions is a clue to me, just it does escapes me at times, e.s.p. does help me see a little better, but not to peace of mind.
blessings to all of us for we are all one
blessings to all of us for we are all one
Too bad the Zimmerman trial had NOTHING TO DO with race. (Just the mainstream media trying to start race riots - NICE TRY). They've got something about "Saint Trayvon" on the Alex Jones site. (Infowars.com)
Yeah, but she isn't specifying this.
