This is hilarious!!!
Photographer Martin Le-May was shooting some photos in Hornchurch Country Park in East London when he found himself capturing the image of a lifetime.
Le-May focused in on a woodpecker and took some photos before eventually snapping the incredibly timed photo seen in the video above. The image shows a weasel riding on top of a woodpecker in flight.
The image has become a viral sensation, but — as with all viral photos — there are many skeptics. Is this photo actually just a fake?
The answer appears to be "no."
Hany Farid a professor of computer science at Dartmouth University, in New Hampshire, who researches digital forensics and image analysis, told National Geographic that, because the animals are in such an unusual position, forging such an image would be extremely challening.
"This would have required a nearly perfect and coincidental alignment of the two animals in their original photos so that they could be composited together," said Farid. "This type of forgery is therefore more difficult to create than, for example, two animals simply standing side-by-side."
But there is still some reason to be skepitcal of this magic photo, because the story behind it isn't as wholesome as it appears. The weasel in the image is actually attacking the woodpecker, and not just using it for a ride.
However, the woodpecker was able to escape, according to Le-May.
