vinegar is also good for removing any residues which are "salt" based, so sweat, or for anyone who lives in a city which salts roads in the winter, removing these salt stains from footwear and clothing, etc.
anyone with a fish tank of a pool knows this sort of stuff too as pH is simply a scale of how acidic or basic something is, the basic really means salt, and salt has more types than just sodium chloride that you put on food, lots of different kinds of salts, acids neutralize salts , and salts neutralize acids.
