In the animal kingdom, there are some pretty harsh parenting techniques. Some parents lay eggs and simply leave, hoping that a few of their young will succeed. The Rhesus Macaques actually physically abuse their children when out of line. The Harp seal cares for their young for about two weeks then abandons them alone on bare ice.
That's harsh, man.
But many animal parents take care of their young for many months and years. It's not always bleak out there for every baby. Many animals are affectionate and loving toward their young, not just humans.
