I have been trying to set up a meditation practice. Yesterday for example I went to sit in meditation and my mind would not be silent, but not just my mind other people's thoughts as well. I feel like being telepathic is getting in the way of clearing my mind, making it an extra challenge. Should I get a crystal and tie it around my head? What can I do to about being telepathic? I feel like my vibrations are rising enough that the energy from other people is not affecting me as much (which feels good) but still reading minds can bring down vibrations. Any suggestions?? Thank you.

This is strange, my experience is that meditation in group is always so much easier...I think that the grounding is needed so solve your problem.....
First thing to do is to let go all worry and things you don't need in meditation (from work, family,friends.. or whatever), just giving it to the earth...connect with the center of earth first individualy, let the energy go straight up throught the whole energetic system and your body, (simply invite the earth energy, welcome it...feel it rising from the feet till the heart, then let the cosmic energy come down from the head till the heart , feel a flow of life through the energetic and fysicall body....
then you make a heart connection all together, and connect in the earth and the cosmos-fields ....
Then make a connection from the common earth-point through the common heart center and into the common cosmos...doing so you create in the middle of the circle a colomn of light that you stay connected with all together, during the following meditation, wether it is a guided meditation or a silent meditation following ... the first part we had always one guiding the group .
We mostly did, it gives a very strong field . ...!!!
During psycho-energetic classes I met a lot af people who were afraid of losing power, or being lowered in vibration....no need for that if you stay grounded and in a good flowing energy....it good to be aware of it , but don't get focussed ... we are constantly sitting, walking...through each others feelds, we are all One and connected !! after all that what's it all about... :))
Being telepatic is a nice tool I used to "feel" the needs of the group guiding a meditation , to know the timing for some words or silence, to guide into higher vibration and then put the feet back to earth...that also important at the end to really feel the body and the feet on the ground...

The best tool which is available is YOUR WILL. Telepathic ability or any other are yours to control not other way around ( like a switch - lights on or lights off). Or you can imagine the door (as connection within yourself) which you can open or close at your will. Thoughts are energy, if you let that energy just go through without effecting your being ( however it's your choice if you want to keep it or not).
Another tool is to visualizing water (waterfall), as this element is like a muffle for 'interferences' ...
It works for me, however everybody is different so hope it does make sense to you.
May I suggest this as a preparation for your meditation method. To get out of the mind. (Just listen,chill out, and ignore the visual) It's lovely-peaceful meditation in itself, and a great way to center for any practice.

This was given to Drunvalo by Yogananda's guru, and he was told most cultures connect to earth & "heaven" in some manner before approaching source-god. It's a great preparation for a more focused meditation IMO.
As it gets one out of the mind-head and into the heart, through feeling rather than thought.
Connecting to the earth is often ignored , in meditation practices, but IMO is very important.
When I visited India 11 yrs ago, I sensed that Indian yogis seemed to connect to earth and were very grounded...... compared to what is often taught here.
Thoughts may call for attention but if your focus is on the heart-love ,you will be in command, or your god source will be.
I've gone into Starbucks after a nature meditation and had no trouble remaining peaceful , in my center. And found I could read most anyones thoughts there if I chose to.
I love ChiGong meditation, as movement is an easy way to get out of the mind....and it's healing as well.
I was thinking reading the thoughts and attAching to them is just like attaching to my own thoughts makes it a challenge. Thank you for this wonderful advice.
