In what ways do I exclude?

How do I contribute to intolerance?

What are my blind spots?

We are all prejudiced because of the way we experience the world...

When we don't know we generally first think negatively.

The unknown, the different, is usually construed as negative...

Our values, beliefs, attitudes and world views are shaped in childhood.

Our individual sense of right and wrong is inextricably linked to our tolerance for difference.

We often interpret different as wrong based on our belief systems.

Prejudice is personal.

Acknowledging prejudices leads to greater self-knowledge.

Acknowledging prejudices allows us to listen with a new ear.

Acknowledging prejudices is the first step to managing them.

"Open Your Mind", is a very well known quote globally...but very few are the ones who actually apply these few words on their daily lives...
    • this was a challenging chapter to go through as I felt that it was sided.... a good experience for me to personally see where I am at with how I viewed prejudice and how I have changed that view from accepting the feelings that came up in the process and allowing myself to be imperfect......Wait...did I just state that.........Cool.
