This posting is aimed at advanced students / practitioners of Uranian astrology. Uranian planets and interpretations are used, along with basic midpoint analysis (or Type 1 Planetary Pictures) on the 90 degree dial. To "keep it simple" the following interpretations will be used: Art = Venus, Neptune, or Cupido; Artwork = Mercury / Venus, Venus / Neptune, or Venus / Cupido; Art Creativity = Venus / Zeus, Cupido / Zeus, or Venus / N. Node; and Success In Art = Venus / Jupiter, Cupido / Jupiter, Venus / Kronos, and Cupido / Kronos. Let's start with John Lennon.
John Lennon has both Venus in Virgo (sign of Fall) and Neptune in Virgo (sign of Detriment). While these are both "negative" sign placements, one has to look beyond the negatives. Lennon has Venus near the star of Alula Borealis, which is the same star where Michael Jackson had his Part of Fortune position in conjunction with (and there is a tendency to "beat all odds" with this star in a fortunate position, unless the energies are used excessively for one's advantage (and note that Hillary Clinton has this star in conjunction with her Midheaven)). A further analysis of Lennon's Venus reveals the following below:
Another interesting formula is Cupido / Zeus = Moon / Neptune (below). Lennon came from a poor and tough community (Liverpool), and this is where he learned art. And yes, there were all those screaming and disallusioned young women who followed The Beatles wherever they went (and who reportedly stole their shoes, combs, ties, and even hair from barber shop floors).
And yes, Lennon was bound to be successful in artwork that was shocking to older people who were just getting used to Elvis. "TURN THAT THING DOWN!"
Finally, the chart below is my favorite 90 degree dial midpoint tree relative to Zero Degrees Aries. It clearly defines that Lennon's impact on the world will be "a hero who accomplished shocking and revolutionary change on others."
Andy Warhol (below) has a massive Leo lineup near the Ascendant. His art-ruling Neptune placement is in conjunction with the very fortunate star of Regulus, and Neptune forms a T-Square with Mars and the Black Moon Lilith. Neptune rules propaganda as well, and advertising (i.e. Campbell Soup, Brillo Pads, the Volkswagon Beetle). And yes, advertising is propaganda.
Leo is often drawn to movies, television, and/or cinema. Andy Warhol would make movies of a sexual nature later on in his career, and the most infamous of these include "White Trash" and "Blow Job."
For the one and only scene from the 1964 "Blow Job" movie (which only focuses on Jean-Michel Basquait's face while getting......you know..... click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MKfUxIij04 ) This sexual connotation in his art is clearly seen below:
Andy Warhol would start an art center in New York called "The Factory," where artists could create their works. Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground emerged from The Factory, but so did many other international artists. This is seen below:
Finally, below is another midpoint tree relative to Zero Degrees Aries. Warhol has two "Success In Art" midpoints equal to each other, and these two bisect Zero Degrees Aries ("impact on the world") and Uranus / Poseidon ("movies, electronic media, advertising, propaganda"). Commercial art was where Andy Warhol started in his art career, and this art field involving painting products or models (of which one model included a young Ronald Reagan) would lead him to become the founder and creator of "pop art."
Pablo Picasso has Venus in Libra and Neptune in the 10th House of Career. The Part of Fortune is equal to the world points (Zero Degrees Aries), and is in square with Venus. And similar to Warhol, Picasso has Neptune Square Black Moon.
Mercury / Venus is equal to Aries / Pluto (below). This defines Picasso's artwork to have a major transforming aspect on the world.
And yes, with Venus / Neptune = Midheaven, Picasso's reputation would rest on his artwork.
Picasso's art creativity would also make him famous and wealthy. One of the formulas for "artistic creativity" equals Aries / Kronos, and this indicates some sort of world fame due to his artwork. Also note that Picasso's "The Women of Algiers" still stands as the most expensive work of art ever auctioned; $179,000,000.00 in New York in 2015.
And finally (and similar to John Lennon), Picasso's art creativity would be shocking to others, especially to older artists.
Like Picasso, Chuck Berry (below) also has Venus in Libra and Neptune in the 10th House of Career. And Berry's Venus is forming a hard square with Pluto.
Below reveals "Success In Art" equal to "Impact On The World." Chuck Berry invented rock and roll, and this invention would inspire thousands (if not millions) of guitar players and singers around the world. His song "Johnny B. Goode" was selected to be among several recordings sent into outer space on the space ship Voyager, hoping to be listened to by extraterrestrials. For a live 1958 performance of this song, click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ROwVrF0Ceg
Finally, Berry's artwork would get him into trouble with the law. This was largely due to Berry challenging Jim Crow laws that segregated whites and blacks at his concerts; he reportedly ordered his black and white fans to dance with each other at his shows.
Vincent Van Gogh has Venus exalted in Pisces, and Neptune ruling Pisces in his natal chart (with Venus in the 10th House of career, and Venus / Neptune less than 2.5 degrees away from his Midheaven).
Van Gogh's art career began in Paris. He would run an art gallery AND dabble with painting from both a student and instructor role. At the time of his education and employment, he was surrounded by a rising school and profession of artists involved in what was known as "impressionism." These artists would bring in powerful changes in the art field, and this is represented below:
Saturn / Apollon (below) represents "the teacher" and "the student" according to Hans Niggemann. And yes, Van Gogh was goth a student and teacher of art while in Paris. But Van Gogh painted with a specific technique in which he imitated Japanese art. This may explain why Van Gogh's paintings are hugely popular in Japan; Van Gogh's "Portrait of Dr. Gachet" was auctioned off to Ryoei Saeto (Japan's 2nd largest paper manufacturer) for a 2014 record of $82,500,000.00. And while Van Gogh was in Paris, he never sold a single painting he did.
Guitarist Pete Townsend of The Who once stated that Jimi Hendrix took an electric guitar and turned it into "a nuclear bomb." But outside of the stage antics of Hendrix (i.e. playing the guitar with his teeth, setting his guitar on fire, playing the guitar behind his back, etc.), Hendrix changed the sound of rock and roll. This change was from the 1950's clean electric guitar sound into a combination of distortion, feedback, special effects, and insane guitar string bending. A good example of this change can be seen with his 1970 version of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode," complete with his stage antics performed at packed house in Berkeley, California (click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUAVSLhNFrw and compare it with Chuck Berry's classic version that was previously shown).
Similar to John Lennon, Hendrix was born under the Uranus Trine Neptune placement ("revolutionary and harmonious art expression") that took place as WWII started to unfold. Also note that Venus is in conjunction with the Royal Star of Persia Antares ("Archangel Oriel"). Interesting note: Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin also has Venus Conjunction Star of Antares. The formula for artwork below (Venus / Neptune) equals Uranus / Poseidon, and this clearly represents Hendrix's use of electronic media to make his guitar sound like bombs going off, war jets diving, trains howling, banshees screaming, ets. And yes, that is clearly propaganda, much like Andy Warhol's Volkswagon Beetle previously described (with the same Uranus / Poseidon midpoint).
I love this formula below. Uranus is shocking, rebellious, and innovative. And this definitely defines Hendrix's artistic creativity. And yes, he was packing coliseums the last year he was alive, with a public that was absolutely mesmirized by his music. Outside of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix was the #1 live rock music attraction in terms of ticket sales during the last two years he was alive.
As seen below, Leonardo Da Vinci clearly has the chart of an artist. With Netune Conjunction Midheaven and Venus in Taurus (and in the 6th House of job skills), Da Vinci was destined to achieve much success in art.
Further evidence of Da Vinci's reputation to be known for his artwork is seen below:
Finally, the controversy of Da Vinci's artistic creativity to involve possible involvement with extraterrestrials is seen with "artistic creativity" = "extraterrestrial connections, advanced technology" below. For a 41 minute documentary that explores this possibility, click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh8z1GQa1Fc
Georgia O'Keefe put my current residence of Santa Fe on the map with her unique art. With Venus in Libra and Neptune near the star of Algol (which does have art talent implications, depite it's bad reputation), Georgia O'Keefe has good placements that point at art talent.
Georgia O'Keefe's work concerned the very scenic New Mexico arid landscapes, along with flowers that presented a healing sensation to many. Below are some of her known paintings:
Below is another midpoint tree relative to Zero Degrees Aries and "point of fame," with artistic creativity bisecting these two points. Hence, Georgia O'Keeffe would be known for her artwork in a very big way. And yes, she may be the reason that so many artists flock to this Santa Fe area, along with writers, channelers, UFO / extraterrestrial investigators, psychics, mystics, and yes, astrologers.
Thanks for reading.
Love to all,
Malcolm
