This report is a basic astrology analysis of six noteworthy icons of Hollywood. These icons were noted for having very unique personalities and habits, and also for having important influence over decision-making by Hollywood executives.
Bette Davis reportedly didn't become sexually active until she worked in Hollywood. The Venus Conjunction Mars placement in the 7th House is indicative of much sexual involvement, and she was reportedly open to such activity with almost anyone during her younger years in Hollywood.
The Sun Square Uranus placement is indicative of not only a need for independence, but a propensity for conflict when such independence is challenged.
The Sun Square Neptune placement is usually indicative for drug addiction and "reputation for dishonesty and ability to fool others," which is a trait needed for success in Hollywood not only on the big screen but also with management. And yes. Bette Davis was a very heavy cigarette smoker.
Success with acting ability was possibly indicated with the Mercury Sesquiquadrate Jupiter placement, with 4th House Mercury in Pisces ("deceptive types of communications") applying to 9th House Jupiter in Leo ("success in entertainment"). This placement may also be related to her interest in Christianity in later years since philosophy-ruling Jupiter is placed in its own 9th House of religion and philosophy.
John Wayne has Jupiter Conjunction Neptune, and this placement is noted in horoscopes of many people with drug addictions of some sort. And yes, John Wayne probably beat out Bette Davis in terms of numbers of cigarettes smoked daily. But because Neptune has that deceptive quality, Neptune in conjunction with Jupiter can define "success in areas that involve deception," such as acting. And with this conjunction forming an opposition with Uranus in the 5th House, John Wayne was bound for success in areas that involved "success with deceptive qualities" (acting) that involved "technology applications" (Uranus). Or in simple words, "success with acting via the big screen."
John Wayne reportedly got into many fights and arguments with producers and directors. He was popular and provided a big financial draw in his golden years, and he wasn't afraid to challenge the people who paid his contract obligations. This is indicative of the Saturn Square Pluto placement, along with the Sun Sesquiquadrate Mars placement.
Audrey Hepburn is proof that even though Taurus is the dominant sign in bankers and with real estate dealers, there are some very few Taurus Sun-Signs who can actually be very generous with their money (and sorry, but blatant generosity with one's personal savings is a very rare trait for most Taurus Sun-Signs).
Audrey Hepburn's connection with organizations that seek "a better world" by financial sacrifice may be defined by her Jupiter in Taurus placement in the 2nd House ("a large money supply") in conjunction with the North Node ("connections with others") and this pair in opposition with the asteroid Juno in the 8th House ("organizations or groups of people that seek harmony in some way"). Because Audrey Hepburn suffered as a child with near- starvation during the Third Reich's involvement with her country in her childhood years, this may explain her attraction to UNICEF and to religious organizations that seek to help poor children in international poverty classes.
Neptune is in conjunction with the star of Regulus, and this may define "riches obtained via the use of deception or deceptive abilities (i.e. acting)." It may also define "services to others with one's wealth."
Audrey Hepburn has Saturn in the 10th House, and this is indicative of obtaining great power and responsibility. Abuse of such power leads to great falls from responsibility, as JFK and Hitler found out. Hepburn's legacy is one noted for offering great help for others who needed help, and she thus worked with her Saturn in a positive way for the service of others with her wealth. This may be defined with her Saturn Trine Neptune placement (with Neptune Conjunction Star of Regulus).
Marlon Brando had aspirations to be a religious minister when he was a teenager, and he would return to this aspiration in later years with financially helping native Americans and learning their religion. This definitely reflects on his Jupiter in Sagittarius placement; "the religion of the wild in absence of money" is a good definition of Jupiter in its ruling sign of Sagittarius.
The fire trine of Jupiter, Neptune, and a New Moon placement is a good definition for success in acting. Similar with John Wayne's Jupiter Conjunction Neptune, Marlon Brando's Jupiter Trine Neptune is just as effective for "success with the ability to deceive others."
Brando has Mars in an exact opposition to the Vertex in the 8th House, and JFK had an hard conjunction of Mars with the Vertex in his 8th House. Both men had excessive sexual appetites, and Brando went a step further with bisexual involvement. I attribute this "curiosity with bisexuality" to possibly be related to his Black Moon in the sign of Gemini near the Descendant; this may define "great temptation or curiosity with certain sexual areas (Black Moon in Gemini) within "the open area of enemies or confrontations with others in the environment" (Descendant).
Marlon Brando is noted as the inventor of method-acting, which is a form of acting that requires an actor or actress to physically experience and embrace important attributes or key areas of the acting role that he or she is going to be involved with. I attribute this with the yod of Mars/Uranus ("inventive or unique activities") forming their quincunx aspects to Neptune in the 9th House ("areas of deception or deceiving others").
Actor Paul Newman was reportedly shocked when he learned that fellow acting partner Elizabeth Taylor never took an acting lesson in her life. Just as Bette Davis had a powerful ability to fool others with Sun Square Neptune, Liz Taylor had Sun Opposition Neptune of which also offered this deceptive ability. And like Bette Davis, Liz Taylor's hard aspect between the Sun and Neptune invited addiction to drugs.
But the one thing that may have made Liz Taylor's acting career flourish from and astrology perspective was the mutual reception between Mercury in Pisces and Neptune in Virgo. This is because this placement defined a unique opportunity for the enhanced use of Mercury communications in a deceptive Neptune way. This may define an incredible talent for acting and a great ability for fooling others in my opinion, and one that didn't need instruction or coaching in these areas.
Liz Taylor's noted acceptance for men involved with homosexual activity may be defined with her Venus Conjunction Uranus placement ("unusual relationships") forming a trine with Jupiter in the 8th House of sexual activity. This may also define shocking activities involving her sexual relationships; Liz Taylor reportedly paid her butler to have sex with her when she was separated from Richard Burton.
The strong square between Jupiter and the Moon is near the world points at 15 degrees of the fixed signs. The Moon can sometimes represent the public on an individual's horoscope, and Liz Taylor would be viewed very favorably by the public (and the world) before and after her death. This was not only due to her great success and involvement with entertainment, but also with her work involving charity.
Similar to Audrey Hepburn, Paul Newman had Saturn in the 10th House. And like Hepburn, Newman never seemed to abuse the great power he would obtain within the Hollywood power structure. And yes, like Hepburn, he would donate much of his money in later years to charities. Result? A legacy of being remembered for much good done for society (in addition to some pretty good films).
The powerful trine between Mars in Aries and Neptune in Leo may help in defining Newman's unique "machisimo" acting talent. But Newman's talent coming across to others in a harmonious way may also be attributed to the strong conjunction of Mercury and Venus ("artwork") near his Ascendant and forming an opposition with Pluto in the 6th House. This may define a real obsession with his craft as an artist involved in acting, and thus define an actor with a strong artistic need to "get it right." He was definitely an artist who didn't tolerate mistakes, but he was probably an artist who also got along well with others on the set (as long as the job got done right).
Unlike John Wayne, Newman's trine between Saturn and Pluto indicated probable harmony with powerful people on the set. This is in contrast with John Wayne's square between Saturn and Pluto, which indicated probable conflict with powerful people on the set. The strong work ethic of Newman may also have played a role with his good relations with Hollywood executives in addition to his Saturn Trine Pluto placement.
Mars in Aries in the 3rd House no doubt defines the fascination with race cars that Paul Newman had. John DeLorean had Mars in Aries in his horoscope, and thus there is a fascination with fast cars associated with Mars in Aries.
The Moon can represent food, and placed in the sign of Pisces ("service") may help with defining his charity of "Newman's Foods" (especially placed in his 2nd House of financial resources).
The animosity between Paul Newman and Richard Nixon is difficult to define. My guess is that Nixon had a strong identity as a Capricorn with Sun in Capricorn, and Newman had a strong identity as an Aquarius with Sun in Aquarius (and with a Mars in Aries) that may have gotten under Nixon's skin (in addition to Newman's popularity).
Overall Analysis
Neptune, Mercury, and the sign of Pisces seemed to play important and key astrological roles in determining success in acting. The problem is that since successful acting requires success with the art of deceiving others via communications and portrayals, one may bring forth these experiences into one's personal life. And this is why so many Hollywood stars have problems with their personal lives: they have to learn to separate what is considered o be business with what is considered to be personal.
Thanks for reading.
Love to all,
Malcolm
