On August 1, 2015, there was a theatrical display projected on the Empire State Building showing what the filmmakers behind the project calls “Racing Extinction” or more specified “Noah’s ark of animals” in the hope it would draw attention and inspire a global conversation about the plight of endangered species.

Before the show started, the filmmaker alluded to some additional projections that may be seen on the skyline.

Now, one of these additional projections was the projection of the face of Shiva also known as Mahadeva. Shiva is one of the five primary forms of God in the Smarta tradition and “the Destroyer” or “the Transformer”.

Then the face of Shiva transformed into the face of the Hindu goddess Kālī.

Kālī also known as Kālikā, is the Hindu goddess associated with empowerment, shakti. She is the fierce aspect of the goddess Durga (Parvati).

The name Kali comes from kāla, which means black, time, death, lord of death: Shiva. Since Shiva is called Kāla “the eternal time” the name of Kālī, his consort, also means “Time” or “Death” (as in “time has come”).

Hence, Kāli is the Goddess of Time, Change, Power and Destruction. Although sometimes presented as dark and violent, her earliest incarnation as a figure of annihilation of evil forces still has some influence.

Why they projected the faces of Shiva and Kālī is unclear or it must be that it is a hidden message that not only animals but also Humanity is on the verge of extinction.

Besides, we may wonder whether it is related to the infamous CERN. As we know CERN has a huge statue of Shiva in front of their buildings, representing life and death and we may wonder whether the projection is in relation with the September 2015 events.

This short video shows the faces of Shiva and Kālī.

Next video shows images of endangered animals, Faces of Shiva and Kālī, Blue Human or Alien? and endangered animals again.
