Special Sleeping Mask Can Control Dreams
(Yahoo) It sounds like a scene from Hollywood blockbuster Inception, but it could be possible to control your dreams in the future thanks to a special ‘sleeping mask’.
The Remee is the invention of Americans Duncan Frazier, 30, and Steve McGuigan, 30, who claim the mask works by making the brain aware it is asleep, allowing the person to control what then happens in their lucid dreams.
The inside of the mask features a series of six red LED lights which start flashing when the person asleep enters into the Rapid Eye Movement stage of sleep.
While dreaming, the person recognizes the flashing lights which makes them aware they are in the dream – and thus theoretically able to control what happens next, whether it be a trip to space or ocean swim.
It will also be possible to customize the Remee online by changing the frequency and intensity of the lights.
The masks work on a tiny 3V coin cell battery and the pair, as Bitbanger Labs, ensured funding for the project via the Kickstarter creative project funding site, raising $572,891.
Masks will cost around $95 each but, of course, there are no guarantees, with the developers admitting it needs “practice and determination” to make it work.
