The military equation of the US is a difficult one since they've made enemies out of millions of people since WW2, and if they were to cut back on the military Now, every single one of their enemies would take the advantage and do what they deem should have been done long ago, to destroy America. :)
Cutting back on the miitary was a good idea 70 years ago. Nowadays it's just suicidal for the USA to even think about that. ;)
