CARACAS, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Venezuela's socialist government has arrested more than 100 "bourgeois" businessmen in a crackdown on alleged price-gouging at hundreds of shops and companies since the weekend, President Nicolas Maduro said on Thursday.
"They are barbaric, these capitalist parasites!" Maduro thundered in the latest of his lengthy daily speeches. "We have more than 100 of the bourgeoisie behind bars at the moment."
The successor to the late Hugo Chavez also said his government was preparing a law to limit Venezuelan businesses' profits to between 15 percent and 30 percent.
Officials say unscrupulous companies have been hiking prices of electronics and other goods more than 1,000 percent. Critics say failed socialist economic policies and restricted access to foreign currency are behind Venezuela's runaway inflation.
"Goodyear has to lower its prices even more, 15 percent is not enough, the inspectors have go there straightaway," Maduro said in his evening address, sending officials to check local operations of the U.S.-based tire manufacturer.
Since the weekend, soldiers and inspectors have gone into 1,400 shops, taken over operations at an electronics firm and a battery-making company, and rounded up a handful of looters.
The move - Maduro's boldest since taking office in April - is reminiscent of the dramatic governing style of Chavez, who nationalized swaths of the OPEC member's economy during his 14-year socialist rule.
Like Chavez, Maduro says he is defending the poor.

It depends on what you define as money. Venezuela's soccer star president Hugo Chavez didn't want to price Venezuela oil on the U.S. dollar basis, pointing out that the U.S. credit card was beyond being maxed out with $17 trillion in debt. He died of cancer a few years later, and claimed he was murdered by those C.I.A. f%ck buddies Israeli Mossad for refusing to accept the U.S. dollar as legit currency.
I am venenezuelan and im living this "hell". All these years have been absurd and ridiculous. If i want to buy dollars in a bank i cant, i must do some heavy procediure to get a limited quantity of dollars. If this limitation dont exist all the prices would be in the normal rage. MADURO IS A CLOW DRESSED AS PRESIDENT, he didnt even study and he was only a bus driver. Also most ppl are ignorant and dont realise that they are being bought by the gov. PLEASE HELP
Maybe you should post your daily life style now in Venezuela so people here, many who live in nice safe suburbs and clean cities in the US and Canada, Europe, Australia, who are socialist/ communist sympathizers and truly believe in marx etc. they have good jobs, nice homes, new cars all the amenities and I guarantee they would say that you are an extremist right winger for disagreeing-for what it's worth I'll say a prayer for your home

Any kind of group that rise to power, only do so for that power, not to represent their ideals, people here belive that the ones that liberated them from the Spanish did it because freedom, but no, they only wanted power, to rule them under the false idea of freedom, they've succeeded.
