New Tree Species Containing Exceptionally Large Leaves Discovered In Amazon Forest
Researchers recently discovered a new species located in the Brazilian Amazon. The new species has been labeled Coccoloba Gigantifolia.
The new tree species contains leaves that are an amazing ten to fifteen feet high. The tree contains a straight and segmented trunk. This trunk on occasion sprouts at the base with transverse rings. These rings are distanced at roughly ten centimeters and contain thin branches of whitish bark restricted to the apex. The leaves are alternate, spiral, and petiolate.
The species is endemic to the Madeira River basin. The lack of botanical collections in the region makes it difficult to find reliable conclusions regarding the distribution of the species.

My first thought was are these gaint leaves edible? ..if so how nutritious?...if yes then a lot more of these trees can be planted all over the world
