The Two Egos

Today I would like to talk about having two types of egos.
Type-I is the ego of the self and it is this type that we are most familiar with.
Type-II is the ego of the higher self, and this is not a part of your indwelling god fragment, but it is subsequent to the development and attainment of god-consciousness. Both types are present in the life of every mortal on the worlds of time and space in varying degrees, yet the god conscious man or woman will seek divine assistance in the development of Type-II, while he or she diminishes the influence of Type-I. This is the first step in the transformation of mind from the lower to "the mid-mind."
Type-I is your animal ego, the ego of survival; the ego of selfishness; the ego of self-importance. This is a part of the nature and personality that every man and woman on your world is born with, and it functions instinctively in the mind. Type-I is the seed from which Type-II may be born, and it is this lower mind that becomes a necessary component to the self-realization and the subsequent development of the mid-mind through faith and moral choosing.
You may think of the two types as containers, Type-I is akin to a survival kit-something to get you through the wilderness as a temporary means of sustaining the body. This small container is packed to the fullest and provides no room for anything but the self. Type-II is like a suitcase that is methodically packed for a long trip for which every consideration is given to insure survivability in a new and unexplored land. The container of the ego-self (Type-I) only has enough rations to sustain the self for a finite period of time and it is selfishly guarded by the self through fear and suspicion from other survivalists that may happen to cross paths with the self. The container of the higher ego self (Type-II) has in it more than enough provisions for which consideration for the sharing of provisions with others, or for bartering, has been provided for. The Type-II container is very large and it also contains empty space for the storage of treasured items that may be acquired along the journey. Type-I has no capacity for future needs.
God consciousness takes the self out of the wilderness, and FAITH becomes the travel brochure that inspires us for the journey ahead. Moral choosing provides the insight to plan well and to insure the safe passage of the soul into eternity. So you see, the ego of the self must not be subdued, but educated into the care and development of the higher self-the child of the universe-the human soul.

Awesome post. It really made me do some thinking. I like that it is concise and clear. I struggle with my ego a lot sometimes feeling I always have to prove myself right, and I know I am not alone in this, and this made me stop and think. To utilize type two ego more frequently and try to educate the type one ego that is selfish. I do not have to be right or try to prove it, that is type one ego and it never gets me anywhere and does not uplift the soul. Type two is more accomodating. I want to do as this suggests and educate my ego to think outside just survival mode, and to think of others on their journeys.....I have nothing to prove and do not have to be right and argumentative, it is not good for the soul. I am turning a new leaf. This post has helped, thanks.

Just thinking out loud: by separating ourselves into good or bad we’re creating conditions which are limited … the possibilities of true path doesn’t have any boundaries it is a will of our Universal Father … The true self is our Soul; even temporarily - our ego as much is vital to us as our physical body, without it our Soul (Spark within) would be limited by our physical conditions to obtain as a experiential being necessarily experiences for our personal growth. It needed to be educated by expanding perception of the world around however not enlarging it (there is a ‘spiritual ego as well as the saying goes: ‘I’ve been there, done that’) and not define oneself with it, however embracing oneself as whole being.

I love this post too, thanks Ara, very nice way to put it. And awesome to you too Marique for turning a new leaf. Having my Type II ego around is like having a very wise mother in my head, always reminding me of our divinity.
Whenever I hear myself "saying" things in my head or aloud that are not conducive to living my life to the fullest, I scream "psychic attack" in my head, and drive out that voice. he he. It usually works. And I also like to sit quietly at least once a day, and tell my ego to take a hike, and try to literally expand the energy from the right side of my brain to the left to kinda "Squash" the type I ego. It feels like an energy rainbow stretching from right to left. <3

my type I (ego) helped me to move forward, to fall and get up, to overcome some physical ‘fear’ or gave me some lessons on ‘gravity’;) and vulnerability of our physical body, or that drive towards perfection, to be better … when we feel better about ourselves … what do we do next? … we help others to do the same … it is not just ‘this’ or ‘that’ we have to embrace ourselves as whole being not just ‘the spiritual one’… to learn to love oneself fully with all that we are … not just some ‘parts’ … and once achieved this, it would be where compassion, kindness and wisdom resides in your BEING, not just heart or mind or even soul, it becomes you. I believe that’s where love is present and the struggle with oneself is getting less and less ...

Agreed, we must embrace our whole selves not just our spiritual selves. But the degree to which someone wants their spiritual as opposed to "non-spiritual" (? don't know what word would fit there) side is up to the individual. Sure, we have to embrace both sides, but I think sometimes it is necessary for the type I ego to "leave" when I am attempting to engage in some type of spiritual activity, not all the time, just sometimes. And qualifier: this is true for me at least.
I think that this process is also kind of linear for most people, right? You learn who your type I ego is very quickly, we try to "master" it, and then we slowly learn the type II, and we try to master it too, and then integrate the two to form our full selves. Sure, it's not that cut and dry, but I think that's the evolution a lot of people go through. So in a way, even though we shouldn't think of ourselves in parts, the evolution of ourselves can be thought of in linear time in parts/steps/stages. It's like going from one pole to the other pole, and then finding a happy middle..which I think is where many people on here are at. I appreciate your depth of thought,
