Third Ear Experiment
Definition: Third Ear
(Psychiatry) Similar to intuition, sensitivity, and awareness – a psychiatrist will use his/her 'third ear' to look for subliminal cues to interpret clinical observations of patients during therapy.
(Physiology) Hearing with ones skeleton, both sides of the eardrum and ones eustachian tubes, tubes that link the pharynx to the middle ear, as opposed to hearing sound with ones external ears.
(Mysticism) An esoteric concept similar to the third eye of certain spiritual traditions. Often referred to as 'the listening mouth' and 'the all hearing ear'. The third ear is believed to be a doorway that leads to inner awareness and deeper regions of consciousness between self and world. People who have developed the capacity to use their third ears are known as hearers.
The Third Ear Experiment, produced by Brant Withers, was an attempt to connect my eustachian tubes to my pineal gland by physically rerouting the way in which sound entered my body. For 28 days straight, from October 25th to November 21st 2011, I blocked up my external ears and attached a copper funnel to my mouth and set out to see and hear what would happen. The experiment was both extremely torturous and meditative. Each day gave birth to a multitude of new ideas of which I was unable to document thoroughly. The act of documentation itself was often a hindrance to the experience so I made quick notes and as many sketches and paintings as possible for future illustration and investigation and I could easily spend the rest of my life in doing so. There is too much speculation in this article..What was the intention behind this? I ask because I See you have a star on your profile, which means you believe you can enlighten others, that you have something we could use, by reading your "knowledge" or "insight"....Your interpretation of psyciatry, physiology and mystisicm is different from others that I have read, how do I know that you are speaking the truth? I ask sincerly..
I'm not sure what you mean, Hopi...did you read the article? It is an experiment that someone did where he blocked his ears and used a copper tube in his mouth to hear for twenty eight days and charted his experiences with some amazing artwork and insights. There is no speculation involved, it isn't exactly scientific but has some interesting ideas especially about sound and the experiences he had during meditation. I did not include the entirety because I didn't want to infringe on copywrite, so just follow the link for the entire experiment.
I have been looking at the effect of sound on the body and chakras, so this was interesting to me and I wanted to share what I am learning. I love figuring things out, making connections and putting it all together like a puzzle; it's my funtime:-)
I have a star on my avatar because I am a long time member who has posted many blogs, there are other members here who have them too. As for the truth, it is relative according to your level of experience, so I leave it up to you to believe in anything that I share, it's not for me to convince you, I have nothing to prove :-)
Yes I read the article. Why would you pass on something that is not your experience? You have nothing to prove. Thats OK. It up to my level of experience thats OK. But how do you know what you are learning is true, so true that you deal it out to anyone else...? You call them ideas than say there is no speculation to this. Isn't ideas a produce of the mind? How do you know its not your mind playing trix on you? As for the truth, it is relative? You know this? How do you know this? Do you know the ultimate truth for all? How can you say it is this, when you have no idea what truth actually is? Its to easy to share something than abandon all responsibility and just say its up to you...That is why I question you. Stick say that all your message is based on humility, FINE. But does it make it an ambassador for the truth?
Hopi, I am surprised at your hostility. Have you ever known me to be arrogant and tell people what to think, what to believe? I certainly do not, I purposely do not write "opinion" blogs because they come from a place of ego, and I try to keep myself in check.
I like to let people decide for themselves. If someone shares my interest in a subject then I can contribute intelligently to the conversation, but this idea of truth that you are referring to is a slippery thoughtform at best and I am not foolish enough to insist that my way is the only or best way, it is the way I choose and that is enough.
This entire website is based on speculation. We are named after an alien spaceship commander, lol. Really. Perhaps you are looking for proof? I can't help you with that, sorry.
This man performed an experiment, he shared the results- this is not speculative experience, he didn't just think about what would happen if he attempted to create his "third ear" -- he actually performed the experiment and lived it for nearly a full month. How is that speculation? How is that truth? If it is not his truth then what is your prerequisite? Saying it is not "truth" does not mean it didn't happen, and it is not for us to tell him what he experienced was untrue because we have no way to prove he didn't have the experiences he describes. Personally, I believe his experience, he seems like a decent fellow and he isn't making money or gaining celebrity from his experiment. Of course, that is my opinion. Did we learn anything from his experiment, that is the important aspect. I did, and so I shared it. Do you have any insight on his drawings? I believe he may have unwittingly engaged his soma/amrita/nectar and that would account for some of his visions- however that is conjecture so I did not add that to the blog because it is unconfirmed and my own opinion. I did however investigate it and posted the Crystal Palace blog as a sort of comparison.
Your personal issue with myself doesn't really concern me. I am not sure what brought on your attitude but it doesn't really involve me, just who you think I am- it doesn't touch the real me. My ego isn't so hungry that I need your validation.
I can't force comprehension of my blogs or the path that I chose to take, I can only share it and find like minded individuals with whom I can discuss these concepts with to glean a deeper understanding. If you are seeking some one to engage with and argue over it, you are barking up the wrong tree, lol. Either learn from it or not, it's your life and not for me to spoon feed and justify it- (or my)- existence.

I never said let me validate you, what I wrote and what you thought to yourself that I wrote is like day and night. I have no reason to be hostile. When I write you you I have already established the fact that you are conscious to a certain degree. What ever I say to you is from that point on, that means I am beyond being hostile or friendly. I am just what ever I am. I took precious time and energy and spent it in engaging with your article. Surely I would not waste it. I asked you direct questions, I was just caring for answers to that. If you think I want to argue, than that is you thinking it. I already made clear what my intention is, I am wondering if you know that what you have passed on is truth or not. If it is someone elses experience than is it worth spending time on it? That is all I wanted to know. I could have written it diffrently, but you would still interpret your way. I did not interpret anything, hence all my questions..... : ) You could have answered it in like: "Hopi, this is someone elses experience, if it leads to truth or not, I dont know. But it is worth in my opinion to check it out and spend your time on, because it has worked for me personally in getting one step closer to ultimat truth" ...but again that is just my opinion. I probably got it from somewhere since I wrote it, dont you think? Obviosuly you dont since you act so surprised. But what is it to you, in defending someone elses beliefs and experiences? Did someone come by your door with flowers? Did you get a medallion? Did Kelly send you a love letter telling she loves you and want to have your kids? Why would you defend her? Why would you go against me questioning somebody? We all awoke by questioning reality and the establishment...Why would I not question my fellow "spiritual" men and woman? Even if I have a attitude, I am entitled to have it, you dont have to engage... You say its hard not to interpret my sincere question. My question can be sincere even though it is agressive and accusatory....Do you think you are very intelligent? I am just asking..
