Leckie Studio Architecture & Design from Vancouver in Canada have come up with a design for a flat pack home that is off-grid which can be assembled like Ikea furniture anywhere. Anyone who has dreamed of living and owning a small home is going to fall in love with this idea.
Surf Shack Home Can Be Dropped Anywhere In The World
The Surf Shack model of the home is a prefab that starts from $45,000 and ranges from just 191 square feet and goes up to 937 square feet. While the cheapest is the smallest, of course, the biggest of the homes can accommodate up to 24 people. The materials needed to build the homes can be dropped via helicopter just about anywhere. This means that the home can be built even in the remotest of locations in the world and are built in much the same way as Ikea furniture is built.

The customers can design the interior of the cabin and choose from many options in the process. They have a team of architects in-house, and they are able to help with documentation, customization, and permits. Edgar Wilson, the co-founder of the company, said that in many cases customers want to build a dream property that is remote so they can escape the regular 9 to 5. Sometimes the locations would not be able to accommodate the typical traditional building process.

Homes Are Designed Well And Have Little Impact On The Environment
Wilson went on to say that their customers come from many different backgrounds and they all have an eye for design and a creative desire to take part in the building experience. He said that customers have ranged from young technology workers to semi-retired professors. He went on to say that the homes were not 2x4 stick framed small prefabricated structures with windows made from vinyl. He said that customers want a home that is recreational but which has been designed well and which has very little impact on the environment.

At the moment the Surf Shack can be purchased in the United States, and Canada and expansion are planned for the future. The company says that the homes are a superb choice for anyone who wants to seclude themselves away from society thanks to the fact that the property can be assembled anywhere. It is also a much more affordable option for housing when it is compared to the super inflated market. The homes fit in with the tiny house movement, and of course, people are now finding that bigger is not always better.
