If you live in the South right now, its the perfect time to start growing vegetables. Plant seeds every two weeks to have year around vegetables and good luck. I started my corn field and now planting melons, pumpkins, turnips, and beans. Plant everything and start growing now.

I hear you Sarah. I start planting next week. I need to read up on growing foods here in Florida. So far having been in Florida for three years, I have done all my growing on my lanai in pots, tubs, and hanging pots for my topsy turvy tomatoes. I think the soil here is so sandy I am going to have to figure out what to grow that does well growing in totally sandy soil. Any suggestions on how to grow in Florida soil or what does best? Email me if you have any suggestions, ok? If I have to have loam hauled in I will. I DO know that weeds grow very well here, lol. But you can't eat most of them. I was thinking of growing dandilions and letting them take over my lawns, then when every I want greens can just go on my lawn and yank them out for dinner. I LOVE dandelion greens. I am not sure if it is a northern weed or if they have them in the south though.
