It is often mentioned in literature and needs really a closer look to it`s consequences.
We suppose, there would be the ability of time traveling backwards.
Maybe I would prepare for having that trip. My goal is going back to a certain time Hitler was a kid in order to kill him without any difficulties. I want to kill Hitler, because I know the path of history, for I come from the future.
The consequences are more than heavy. Maybe I could really prevent a war and countless atrocities. I would really change the course of history.
Not only that. I for instance would - simply disappear, as if I never had been there, never. The reason is this.
After the war my grandmother left Berlin as refugees. They came to the place my father grew up.
Years later they met and fell in love each other, and I was born.
So the chain of consequences of something happening is unbelievable. It goes even over years.
Because Hitler was born, there was a war.
Because a war my grandmother left Berlin.
Because leaving Berlin my mother met my father.
And because of this I am here.
No, traveling back in time to correct something is not a good idea...

The thing is, you DO exist. So there are two possibilities:
Either you didn't go back and change the course of history at all. OR
Changing the course of history would result in a parallel universe in which world war 2 never happened.
If this second option happened, you would still exist, and you would exist in THIS universe, because you already do. You can't undo that. But in the parallel universe your actions create, a universe that occupies the same time and space as this universe but runs a different course to ours, you wouldn't. You would have averted the causes that led to your birth.
Of course, then we get into the realm of wondering whether the only reason you exist in THIS universe in the first place is because someone from a parellel universe in which you DIDN'T exist went back in time to change the course of history, which resulted in your birth. Perhaps in their universe, world war 2 never happened anyway. Perhaps something else happened, which they tried to go back in time to correct, and inadvertently started a chain of events that led to the birth of Hitler.
My belief is that there are an infinite number of parallel universes, growing (if it is possible for infinity to grow) at an infinite and exponential rate all the time.
It's funny you should mention time travel - over the last two days I have worked out a theory as to how it might be possible. All I need now is a research grant...
Love and light ;)
My good Achilles,
that was much fun reading your thoughts!
And to kill Hitler while a child would just be wrong, you could instead learn him not to hate but LOVE
