Hundreds of animal rights activists covered themselves in fake blood and sprawled across a public square in Paris to protest against 'animal suffering and meat consumption' today.
The demonstration was organised by the 269 Life campaign group as part of the World Day for the Abolition of Meat, which has taken place every year since 2009.
It staged an 'open-air slaughterhouse' at the Place du Palais Royal.
Disturbing images showed one participant - covered in red paint - suspended from his legs as two pretend-butchers stand next to him.

The 269 Life group who staged the demonstration refer to the slaughter of animals as a 'holocaust' and claim 'veganism is is an essential step that any responsible and sensible person must take'.
A statement on their website reads: 'We aim to bring the pain and horror other animals face each and every day out of the suppressed darkness and into the realm of everyday life.
'Most people are well aware of what is being done to other animals, and yet remain apathetic in the face of the atrocities committed in their name, even after witnessing the utmost graphic evidence.'
In Britain, the Labour party's new shadow environment secretary Kerry McCarthy has said meat eaters should be stigmatised in the same way as smokers.
Ms McCarthy, who has admitted she is a 'militant' vegan, has worried countryside campaigners who warned that her veganism and strong opposition to hunting and the badger cull would harm Britain's farming industry.

The World Weeks for the Abolition of Meat (WWAMs) -held every year at the end of the months of January, May and September - are used to promote the idea of 'abolishing the production and consumption of the flesh of sentient beings'.The group's website wants the production and consumption of 'animal flesh' to be made illegal on 'ethical grounds'.
But it stresses the campaigners who take part in its protests 'are not urging people to change their individual consumption behavior (by advocating vegetarianism and veganism).'
Conferences, street actions, leafleting and information stands are set up during the World Weeks for the Abolition of Meat.
The WWAMs are organised to 'spread the idea that the consumption of meat cannot be justified ethically and should therefore be forbidden - just as human slavery was in its time.

Then you will worry what will happen to cows, goats, chicken etc whose young ones are taken care of by humans till they mature enough to breed the next generation.
If someone eat meat, we wish hell upon them, we wish that a spaceship beams and kill your fellow human beings whence meat eating is an activity performed by myriads of species in this planet!! This is hatred to human beings comming in the name of care for animals. This clearly mean that given such powers, you will wipe out human beings on the earth.
Non realy shows care for the livestock cause non answers the question as to where we should take them away from too dangerous lions, bears, mongoose etc. If they repeat curses on meat eaters, so the hope, the whole world will turn vergan. Where will chicken be then? This is ubsent from the minds of these preachers. They don't care where they will go. If they extinct, that is not in their minds.
Yet 'this is all about compassion and care for animals'!!
I don´t agree with many things you say here,,,but I do agree that some vegans are not very compassionate. They don´t really seem to like people very much...not much feeling of oneness or universal love in some comments. They changed their diet, but didn´t change their mind and the violence is in the mind and manifests as actions.. I like animals and I like people, too......

This is esentialy true. Theres nothing that nature will do against meat eaters for the simple fact that it is the very nature that gave them the machinery in their stomach to digest the meat!! Nature can never be at war with itself.
How do I know what is or is not ok to eat? I mean we learn it in todler age. Grip it, take it to the mouth, if you can digest, that is the nartures full permision! We need not to read it on internet.
Cows never had a protest so non eat meat. Man cannot eat most of the herbs unless it is coocked-just like the cats. It is clear when we simply contemplate on nature. Fire was not in the ecosystem, it was invented by man. Fire is generaly destructive to ecosystem.
This issue is just like that of christians with sex. If sex is that bad, why did God creat balls? If meat eating was that evil, why did nature gave canines to man? Why are your teeth not simply like those of cows?
Keep fighting Krishna Kalki brother, we need to fight to restore the Golden Age. People need to change and reform and if they don't wanna change, let karma and nature do its work. At least we've tried our best to convince. No wonder why amidst of that animal killing festival in Saudi Arabia almost 1000 died, IN NEPAL EARTHQUAKE COS OF THAT SICK ANIMAL KILLING FESTIVAL. WE JUST HAVE ENTERED THE 5TH DIMENSION, THE FIRST RULE AND THE BASE RULE IS ALREADY STOP EATING AND KILLING ANIMALS. IT'S THE GOLDEN RULE FOR THE GOLDEN AGE COMING AHEAD.
yes Goddess of Beauty..................we already , are seeing the changes , more and more people turn to compassionate lifestyle , not just a diet. Effects of work of folks like Krishna and like vegetarians and vegans are seen everywhere. In US of A alone the number of vegetarians doubled in mare 5 yrs. We are on the path to change the world , its only taking time , why we dont see changes over night but the changes are happening everywhere around us. In Chicago alone , the number of vegan restaurants had doubled in short 10 yrs. About darn time.........
The protest photos may seem extreme to some but we have reached a stage that drastic measures need to be taken to stop animal killing/selling and eating for the ascension of this planet. Meat eaters need to shape up or ship out ...I hope a giant mothership goes around the planet and beams up all the meat eaters and takes them to a hellish planet where they really belong as they are creating hell on Planet Earth. A hellish planet I mean where the meat eaters reside only and no animals so they start eating each other up ...end of all meat eaters and so end of story
yes , protest pictures are extreme but so is the treatment of farming animals in slaughterhouses and the awarenes needs to be awakened in meat consumers. ....................
