WHAT IS YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF GOD?

Since the beginning of man, his concept of God has grown from the primitive views of a God full of wrath and anger to the view that Jesus had of God as a loving merciful Father. My understanding of God is that he is the creator of the heavens and earth(s). I understand God to be the one controller and uplifter of all things. God in all of his power and glory is able to understand the thoughts of man and become a personal friend to all those who believe in him.
If I understand correctly, God has always been here. Man lives in the realm of time and space. God lives in eternity, therefore, God has been here before the beginning of time. God is described as the alpha and omega. He knows all things and has the power to do anything. No matter how powerful God is, I understand him to be full of love and mercy.
Jesus said that God was his Father. I agree with this perspective that Jesus had. In attempting to understand God, one must understand that "HE" functions as a Father to all of his creation. Since God created all things in the attitude of a parent, then I can be no less than his Son. I understand God, the sole source of all life, to be my Father.

  • My understanding of God is that, I actually don't understand him/her yet.

I'd love to do so, but the truth is that I only have certain vague suppositions.

First I did not believe in god at all. (Because I thought like: If there is a higher power, how could he/she allow so much terrible suffering to occur over and over again!?) Later I hoped there was a higher power.

Then suddenly I firmly believed in higher beings.

And now I came to the conclusion that basically it is a question of definition.

Maybe god is a huge biological being that we live within, similar like small bacteria living within our stomachs.

Maybe god is some form of immaterial conciousness which "dreams" us all.

But no matter how accurate or distorted my ideas may be - I want an enduring loving connection between us, and all other life!

I'm grateful for life as such. But quite often I feel a deep desire for an end to all suffering. Not an end to life, but to all that suffering. I see no sense in suffering. I refuse to. I know there are better alternatives. I'm fully convinced about that.

So please god, use your power to replace suffering with a more harmless and less dangerous form of negative feedback!

    Thank you!

    • I truly appreciate your perspective and growth process of understanding!

  • Great pic!

  • LOL..cute. Unfortunately we live in a world of words and no word that I can think of would best describe "GOD"  I AM no too tecky so when a person says God, I usually just refer to the Creator of all things. In the lords prayer, He is called "our Father" ..and that "Hollowed" by thy name.??? IDK pick whatever works best for you I guess...:-)

  • Greetings Auorix..

    Interesting Post ...

My take on it ... is dat there are many 'Gods' and 'Goddesses' ...

There's the God of our universe ... and there are other Gods ... who all govern their OWN universes ....

The 'one' God people talk about is PRIME Creator .... SOURCE ... or the Original Creator ..... who created the angelic realm .... who then in turn co-created many many entities ... of which ONE became the creator (co-creator) of OUR universe ...

    Nameste

    M

    • Shalom!
