Wikileaks big revelation is that hypocrisy is rife. It seems that everyone who’s anyone is doing it with an unrestrained gusto.
In the USA they say of themselves they’re the land of the brave and the free, the defenders of all individual rights including free speech.
Unfortunately it appears that “bravery” needs to be against authorised enemies. If you bravely stand up to them you’re defined as a terrorist. If you reveal their secret violence their war machine will seek you out!
The Australian body politic defines itself as a sovereign state that protects its citizen’s rights.
Unfortunately this isn’t the case when a citizen offends our political masters. Both sides of the Australian political landscape have obediently abandoned citizen Assange proving Australia is merely a vassal state. They did the same to hicks and habibb!
The Ecuador government has come to Julian’s defence by hiding him in their cupboard. They say they’re the persecuted standing for justice against the oppressive might of the USA.
Unfortunately, even in the time Assange has sheltered with them, the Ecuadorian government has shut down six radio stations and two television stations. They have a profoundly poor record of free speech and media control. Apparently they only like free speech when it pays their dishonourable agenda.
Assange led Wikileaks to reveal secret hypocrisies. He’s been attacked for this service and remains in great danger. So whilst I forgive his hypocrisy I observe it. Assange, the white night of free speech and transparency, is in fact authorising a despotic regime in order to escape the ravages of another.
Hypocrisy is unattractive and cowardly but we’re all a bit guilty of it at least. At an individual level forgiveness and change are the things to reach for.
The brutal often murderous hypocrisy of governments however is an entirely different beast. If there’s a big bitey bull shark in the pool all the swimmers need to know. It can’t be left as is. This situation is unacceptable.
SO WHAT DO YOU DO IN THE FACE OF YOUR OWN HYPOCRISY AND ALSO THE VAST CRUEL HYPOCRISY PERPETRATED BY OUR "BENEVOLENT" PATERNAL AND LARGELY "'DEMOCRATIC" GOVERMENTS?

The WikiLeaks website says their goal is "to bring important news and information to the public...
At least it's a start and information has brought alot more awareness on whats going on and gets people questioning or even relating to information which helps them become even more aware... Its about "AWARNESS" which then makes certain people accountable and will also call on their behaviour/s!
On a personal note, it's like being at work, you see others around you doing things that are not ethical and you have known but don't want to say as it might look bad OR come back to bite you.. even though your not doing what they, doesn't matter cause you haven't called their behaviour so now your just supporting their behaviour. Maybe look at this as "Wiki" calling their behaviours so now and hopefully it is less likely for them to get away with further ....

hmmm... this isnt surprising... what we think of as free... is not really freedom ;)
we were never born free... we were born to a system ...
and as soon as we see it
it can never effect us the same way again
thats why the wiki works well

What if the Ecuadorian gov't shut down those television and radio stations because they were themselves under US control? Then they'd be shutting down the propaganda of the US. I wonder if you look up those stations what one would find.
If it's anything I've learned is that nothing is ever as it seems. The media is a machine that gives us snippets of information that is filtered and framed a certain way when it comes through your television or radio. That's why good stories are always buried and hard to find.
:)
that occured to me too
but
"In the press freedom index published by Reporters Without Borders, Ecuador has dropped from having the 56th freest press in the world to the 104th, lower than Kuwait and the Republic of the Congo"
so no ....he's a corrupt bugger too
but the real point of the discussion vs posting it as a blog was to invite us to think about our own hypocrisy...understanding and forgiving others for their hypocrisy......and figuring out how to answer the large visious governmental hypocrisy without being visious in return
i think re last point simply shout the truth with a smile in the face of the dishonesty and be patient we the 10 moneys become 100
