I also had a relative who did these things and many more... the dark arts I mean. Demons and Shadows I have seen. Only knew him for a couple of years, he eventually killed himself.

It depends. I like wizards in the fantasy sense, which are actually wise-ards, or wisemen. There are many ancient secrets that are not witchcraft, including levitation, how the pyramids were built, the trick Elijah used to start fire, etc.
Black magick is concerned with making a pact with demons, in which you gain their powers, and they gain your soul. A witch was not suffered to live, in some cases even the mere existence of the witch causes us to suffer. Pacts made with sacrifices are very strong, if not unbreakable.
