Now that I’m working with Snake, I am starting to experiment to see what we can do. Years ago, I had chosen Snake for a full body relaxation technique. At the time I didn’t know that snakes were believed to be healers in some Pagan traditions. I would image two snakes entering my feet and coiling up my body, relaxing the muscles as they went. This technique has calmed me down and helped me fall asleep!
Today I decided to experiment with my boyfriend. He is driving to Kentucky to tie up loose ends with his family before he has to deploy to Afghanistan. I pictured him in his car, driving on the highway. Then I imagined a giant yellow snake coiling around his car, emitting protective energy. I added my own energy in: pastel blue, igreen and a light lavender. As a final finish, I imagined his car getting coated in gold paint for Divine protection. I plan on keeping up with this safety technique for the next 9 months. I have already asked Mother Earth for her assistance in this. I don’t want to be drained, after all.
So far my relationship with Snake is strong. Some people may be horrified, but I’ve always liked snakes and have wanted one as a pet for a long time. I consider this relationship with Snake to be Shamanistic in nature. I have studied Western Shamanism (not to be confused with Native American medicine men/women. That is not actually Shamanism as the word Shaman is from Northern European cultures) and have learned how to work with animals from there and from Native American teachings. I can only hope to further my knowledge and learn further from Snake about how to help and heal myself, as well as others.
